alot depends on what is causing it. the hereditary condition I mean. however somethings can make it worse such as listening to loud music and being around loud noises such as lawn mowers, street noise and thing like that. It has been proven that these things can cause your hearing to diminish over time. while without us knowing what your exact cause of hearing loss is we can't give you much for information I'd advise you to stay away from thing that are really loud and to talk to your doctor about what you can do to preserve the hearing you have. I have lost some of mine due to a tmj surgery but I lost the lower end spectrum. my high end is extremely acute.
good luck

Sounds like you are really worried! I'm experiencing hearing loss too. I understand your worries and I don't blame you.
Surely you are being followed by a doctor (if not, get one). Doctors don't know what the future holds, but they are good predictors based on your diagnosis. If you have a diagnosis, why don't you google it and read up? (Be sure you are checking reputable websites...) This may give you some answers too.
BTW - my father is profoundly deaf. I think his hearing in one ear is 10% and not even that in the other. How has it affected his life? I can't think of a single way other than the TV has to be really loud! He's a medical doctor, raised his family, and has been married for over 50 years.
Good Luck.

You should ask these questions of your docor as to whether you might lose you hearing totally in the future. Have you looked into the possibility of learning sign language? It's a wonderfully rich language which has become widespread among those who are profoundly deaf and also amongst those who have full hearing. If there's a chance you may lose all hearing then it will be your main means of communication, if you hearing can be saved it will still be a fulfilling and truly rewarding language to learn. I really wish you well XO

Usually hearing loss gets worse through time, not better. Discuss options other than a hearing device with your doctor. There may be a chance ,surgery can help correct this.
It might be a good time to take up learning sign language just as a precaution.
If your hearing doesn't get worse, you can help others who can't hear by knowing this.
I hope it gets better for you.

[good luck]

THis is something you need to discuss with your doctor. It could be so many things that only a doctor, not peopel on a parenting board would know.
