Here we go again wasting our precious points on work.
Can anyone help me on this. I have a certain worksheet in which I have to insert a division noted as 34/52. However excel automatically recalculates it to it's simplest value being 17/26. I don't want this to happen. Because I clearly want it to display like I noted it(to indicate I calculated 34 weeks in a year from a total of 52). How can this be done preferably in a way that is cell specific and not for the entire worksheet. Fastest applicable answer earns 10 points. Please hurry I need this sheet up and running pretty fast.

Format | Cells | Number tab | Custom

Since you will have already chosen fraction, the format showing should look something like # ??/??

You should change it to # ??/52

Make sure you are only formatting the specific cells you want to appear this way.

Click on the cell, and format it general rather than a number. Then it will stay exactly as you typed it.

simple..

take 1 cell and place 52 in it (i.e A1)
take another cell and place the number you wish to divide by in it..(i.e A2)

then in the 3rd cell (i.e.A3) put in .... =A1/A2
then you know its going to use your figures.

let me know if you need to round up to the nearest whole number in A3
