Whenever I go to a funeral and see the deceased, I get a sense of Satan. I feel that he is responsible for death. Is this a normal feeling? If it is, I don't like it. I would prefer to feel that God has called them home. It would be much easier to cope with the death. I, personally, have never had anyone close to me die, so it's not a family issue. I just would like to know why I always feel Satan when at funerals?

wow good question! I can only say that I have felt this very thing that you describe. When my grandmother died, when my sister died, and as of last week when my father died. It is not Satan you are feeling, it is death itself. The bible speaks of the "Angel of Death". It makes sense that is has an evil feeling about it, because God says "The wages of sin is death." It is a result of sin from the beginning with Adam and Eve. Sin belongs to Satan. As far as this affecting what is happening to the persons spirit, it has no affect. The person who has passed is affected only by the beliefs they lived true to in life.

I do not really know the feeling of peace should be there if you have a strong feeling that the person who died was christian. Is it maybe a fear of yours that it is always satan and not God that controls life and death. I have never had that feeling so it is a little confusing to me. Try praying and se if it changes these feelings. I hope this helps.

It sounds like the funerals that you attended were mostly sad. Maybe the dead person had a negative reputation. Maybe the people at the funeral were fearfull.

But can't funerals and other stressful situations be positive inspite of a sense of loss - if the people involved have the mindset that life is good?

You should only feel that satan has won if the deceased died lost and did not become a born again Christian, and missed out on their chance for eternal life in heaven. That is the only time satan wins.

You have been too deeply indoctrinated. You are afraid of the "satan" thing and are unable to attribute something you perceive as "bad" to a loving god.

So says I.

death is scary for anyone ... and i dont think that anyone is ever truly comfortable with it or being at a funeral
i feel you are associating fear and discomfort with something evil
but death is a part of life ... a transition
there is nothing evil about it
