I think that you should take the dog to the vet. it could be a number of things and if you try to treat it worry it could harm the dog itself. the vet and test it and find out the right treatment. good luck

Is it in a place the dog can dig and bite at all the time ? If so the vet is first going to ask you if he has fleas that is the number one thing why dogs lose their hair they have allergic reaction to the fleas and then they get worms from the fleas from eating one. Check to see if he has fleas and then get him on frontline. Dont use the cheapie things at Walmart its a waste of money and time.
If that is not the case it could be a allergic reaction to your dogs collor. Just call the vet and explain the situation. Some vets like mine will give you advice over the phone and what to do or just have you stop in and pick up some medicine for your pet.
Please dont put any medicine from your home or the store till you talk to your vet sometimes that does more harm then good.

well you are a twit for using a choke collar on him and for using it to choke him. If you don't know how to use it properly, don't put it on him. Take the dog to the vet. It could be anything from an allergic reaction, through fleas, or mange and if it is the latter, this is serious and can kill him. Once you have it sorted out, stop abusing him and buy a proper soft collar or a lupi harness if he pulls.
That way you will look like a caring clued up owner instead of a know nothing maroon.

First, in my opinion....choke chains/collars are a big NO! That could be one of the problems...another thing is, being a schnauzer, I'm betting you have him groomed. A shearing razor can cause a rash. Is his scratching his neck? I have a golden, and had her sheared this summer. She now has a bit of dry, flaky skin on her back.....because of the shearing. I did some reading on it, and a good antibotic cream can be used (check with your vet)..plus I'm washing her in a good quality oatmeal based shampoo for dogs (warm water/dry well). Good Luck...their worth it!!

Sounds like it could be Mange or some sort of a allergic reaction to something. The only way to really tell is by your vet.

You have no choice but to get perfessional help from a vet. He might be allergic to the food, collar, or something else.
