shouldt hate Voodoo or Hoodoo or even diasporic African traditional Religions? I mean We were enslaved and Christianity was forced upon us. We had no choice but to choose jesus at fear of being lynched, Whipped and/or tortued. We had to hide our practices and thats how we have modern day Santeria and/or Voodoo. But all inall this is our culture and our heritage. This worked for our people and continues to work for our people. There was no devil involved. This is not devil worship as Christians will have you believe. YOu are worshiping Yahway and Jesus, these are jeweish/Hebrew names not some universal name. These were the names the hebrews gave their God. While I do respect the jewish God/Gods I also love and respect My African Ones. DOnt preach to me either on here! African Practices and religion was around way b4 Christianity ever was even thought of. YOu came along and spread you superiority complex on your followers!

Im addressing the point that I hate when Blackl people (or people of color period) call hoodoo, Voodoo, Santeria, Yoruba Satanic. And its like That is your heritage whether you choose to ignore it is a whole nother thing but Devil worship is so false. There would be no Devil if Christianity didnt introduce it.

I agree with you. You have to follow your own path. The devil is a part of the Christian religion but has nothing to do with the indiginous religions of Africa.
Cheers!
Edit: Bill W seems to think that that it was a force for good that swept people up from their homes, chained them in a over-crowed, unsanitary hell-hole and dragged them across the ocean. Weren't your ancestors lucky to come to a Christian country?! Oh, how lucky to be torn from their families, beaten, starved, sold as property, whipped and forced to do whatever the good Christian master said.

I am biracial and I have embraced my heritage. I practice Vodou and Hoodoo. I did not do it because I am African American though. I do it because the lwa have called to me and I chose to answer them. I practice in a house where the majority are white Americans. But what does race or color have to do with it. Anyone can be called to serve the lwa or the orisha. It is up to that individual to answer that call. The great thing about ATR's is they are always moving with the times and the cultures.
Santeria, Camdomble, Macumba, Palo Mayombe, Veinte-Uno Divisiones are all African Diaspora Religions but with one difference.....they are all practiced in Hispanic countries. And the majority of practitioners are Hispanic. Yes they started in African but it changed with the times like I said and evolved into a religion that accepts all that wish to answer the call.
These are modern times and nothing is forced upon us. Become knowledgeable about the religions and the histories but chose what calls to you. Why practice a religion if you do not feel it. If you can not live that religion everyday then you were not meant to practice it. When you hear the call fo the lwa you will know. Love, Honor, and Respect!

Jesus Christ and Christianity does not work for blacks. African American ancestors did not worship Jesus, they had their gods who worked well for them. Their gods brought rain and good harvest, they brought healing and peace to their tribes. The conveyors of Christianity knew that they can only gain absolute control over blacks by forcing their weird religion/beliefs on them. They put fear into them by labelling their beliefs as Satanic. They called Africa the Dark Continent. They labelled their rituals demonic. Return to your ancestors' practices.

Everyone needs something to believe in. I believe I'm going to get a cup of coffee and get to work now. Later I better do some research into the Church of England, because maybe I've been turned away from the faith of my ancestors by these bible thumping evangelists who are trying to turn me into something I'm not. Hey, wait a sec, I'm Catholic!

oh really, was voodoo working out for you? kinda strange, I would say a religion that allows you to be enslaved isn't exactly working out, and does voodoo continue to work for your people? I must admit voodoo gets all kinds of respect as being a legitmate religion, much pride my brother, much pride indeed.

I agree with you .
Your beliefs should be your cultures beliefs .
Christianity is forced on everyone ,not just the blacks .
I remember as a child my friends being whipped and grounded because they questioned the existance of Christ .
Indians practice hindu , Asians practice Bhuddism and some whites practice Wicca.
To each his own ,as long as it is not violent towards others .

You have a valid point. Every black person I know is Christian. I know there are some black muslims, but I don't know any of them. When africans were brought over as slaves, I doubt they even knew who "Jesus" was.

Not sure what you are getting at but - Satan is real and God is real. Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationsip with Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
