Yes, and I will not do that to my child. Bedwetting was not something I could control or do anything about.

i never had a bedwetting issue but two of my younger brothers did. one wet the bed until he was well into his teens, the other until he was about 8. they were punished in the beginning. our parents realized that it was something they couldnt help, so the punishing stopped but the lectures never did and we still tease them to this day! they're obviously very grown men now...

I was not punished, but embarassed/made fun of by my siblings. They made me feel ashamed that I had that problem. I think it is important to realize it is something that will pass and to be encouraging to a child that he or she will overcome this. Some of us just take a little longer to get the hang of certain things!

I watched my brother get beaten every morning of his life until he was 13 years old for wetting the bed, and I knew, even as a child, that it was wrong. He couldn't help it or he would have stopped. How idiotic my father was for doing that!

not that i remember...... but i know some fathers that take bed wetting to the next level of abuse..... and to those fathers (and or mothers) that do punish thier children for bed wetting....i only hope pray and wish that they get a horse whip accross the back when they are 60+ for not being able to control or hold themselves..

NO. rewarding is so much better. try leaving a potty and night light on in the child's room in case they can't make it to the toilet. also tell the child that it is OK to come and wake you up if they need to go, this should help.

I didn't have the problem myself, but my 6 year old does and she does not get punished for it, UNLESS she wakes up and starts playing instead of getting up and cleaning herself cleaned up.
