I have the same thing. I got a pillow from JC Pennys called the tri-zone (it has the memory foam) and it has made a huge difference. I know that sounds strange but it worked! I think it must help align your spine or something. The retail price is $69 but they are always on sale at least 40% off. I bet I feel about 85% better since I bought this.

1. If you can send the mattress back.
2. See a chiropractor.
3. Check into the Sleep number beds or the memory foam beds

what kind of mattress did you get?
i, too, have had ALOT of lower back pain during the night. a couple suggestions:
1-the memory foam beds are great. my husband and i got one a few months ago and we're both sleeping better and my back doesn't hurt near as much as it used to.
2-try putting a pillow between your knees and lining it up with your calf (so that the pillow ends at your feet). this will help to keep your lower spine aligned

It all depends on the type of matress you buy and the way you sleep. Maybe you need a more firm or softer matress. Try getting one of those memory foam things that you put on top of your matress. Also try massage therapy or see a chiropractor.

buy another :) kidding!!
i think if you have back pain problem then you must sleep on a hard surface. I had the same problem and i used this technique. I used only a bedsheet without any mattress and it helped a lot.
