How common is it in Australia for people to remove their shoes when entering homes?

It is quit common in new Housing Estates where people have installed new carpeting or have timber flooring. I know quite a lot of people who always offer to remove shoes before entering someones home. I think it is quiet courteous and it is something I always practise.

not very common at all
however it is a custom to take all ones clothes off (minus shoes) before entering a house.

I think you should let a lot of shoes outside the door, people will notice...

it's a common courtesy in any country, but mandatory in certain religions.
