I've just been given a slow cooker (by my nan!), I've invited them to dinner to try it out, but I have no idea what to cook! Does anyone have any good recipes/ideas??

Thanks!

Root Beer Pulled Pork
I usually start with a boneless pork roast. Season it with with salt and pepper, garlic powder and onion powder (my family hates garlic and onion so this is how I sneak it in --feel free to use the real stuff), then brown in oil on the stove. Add it to the slow cooker with a 12 ounce can of root beer- any brand is fine. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. About a half an hour before it's done, add 24 ounces of root beer to a saucepan on the stove. Stir in 1 bottle of chili sauce. Bring to a full boil, then reduce to a low boil until the sauce has to reduced to half. Remove pork from slow cooker, discarding liquids. On a platter or large plate, use two forks to pull the pork apart. When it's completely shredded, you can mix in the sauce or serve it on the side. SOOOO GOOD!

You can also use liptons onion soup mix for the roast.
You can make all sorts of things with your slow cooker, soups, casseroles, chicken dishes, BBQ dishes, stews. Basically anything you can make on the stove top you can make in your slow cooker. Look online for different recipes there are tons to choose from.
good luck

Get some cheap beef. Cut into cubes. Fry with 2 xonions and 2 cloves of garlic before placing into slow cooker with water, Oxo cubes, or beef stock. Add red wine (A good 1/2 pint). Add salt and pepper. Leave for day (Put on before going to work).

Pre-cut and soak vegatables (Carrots, spuds, leaks, etc.) Add around lunch time, or when you get in from work, topping up water.

Bingo, one beef stew.

I like to make chili and chicken stew in my slow cooker. A great place to get recipes for it is allrecipes.com

It's free to join and there are tons of ideas. When you choose a recipe they even suggest side dishes or breads to go along with it. Most of them are easy to prepare and I haven't gotten a bad one yet!

Good luck!

My wife does an amazing lamb dish in the slow cooker. I have no idea what the recipe is, I just enjoy the finished product ;-)

If supper is at 5pm, start at 10am.
Pot roast:
Place a big pot roast in cooker, add baby carrots (or slice your own) and chop up potatoes to fill cooker. Put a beef spice packet (found at grocery stores) and put on med. for the day.

If you like chicken...Try this one
depending on the size of your crock pot,
1can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1can green enchilada sauce
mix all this together in the crock pot
put in about 2-3 lbs of chicken I like boneless breast
add enough water to cover the meat.
it is easy turn it on and let it go !!!!
If you have room,I like to put in a can of mixed veggies
It is a ghetto fabulous invention but it is good.

you can have white rice on the side use the gravy on your rice MMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
