It's really hard to understand how anyone could commit such an evil act. When something like this happens, it's pretty difficult to figure out the motives of the perpetrator. The murderer in this case had harassed people before, and threatened to use weapons against them--he was arrested for it. So he clearly had a history of emotional problems.
Even if we could know all the reasons that he committed this horrible act, would it help anyone feel better about it? I doubt it.

I'm troubled by the fact that two such crimes were recently committed against female children. Our society seems to foster hatred toward females that some very ill men are taking out on helpless children. It's also troubling that the men who committed these acts were not diagnosed as having grave mental illness before expressing it in such a horrific way.

Hi! Im from Lancaster, PA....i live about 10 mins from where the horrific events took place. There was MOST certainly an act of evil here. The devil most definately had his win in this one. The only thing that we can do now is pray for strength and comfot in the amish community as well as in the lives of his innocent family members.

I read the killer called his wife on a cellphone and told her he was 'getting revenge' before he killed the Amish girls. Was he evil? I'd have to say YES.

He was one of the worst excuses for a human being that I have ever heard of. And a coward. How else can you describe a man who takes little Amish girls hostage and then slays them execution style?

Patheteic.
