sunday sundown til nightfall monday was Yom Kippur, the day of atonement.

this involves a 24-ish hour fast, 100% fast, no food, no water, (if health allows for this without signifigant ill effects, excluding some elderly, pregnant/breastfeeding women, and of course people who are not of age)

its a day of introspection, prayer, and repentance.

that pretty much summarizes it...

Are Jews fasting also? Muslims are fasting during daylight hours during the month of Ramadan. It began on September 25 and lasts 4 weeks.
