Tracks around the world are different distances, there is no standard distance. In Europe the tracks are not oval. In America common distances (by circumference) are 1-1 1/8 miles.

it deepends on the track the country and the breed of horse racing the quarter horses average distance is about 6 furlongs and thoroughbred is 8 furlongs - 1 3/4 of a mile

Most US major tracks are 1 mile. The smaller (like fair) tracks are called "bull rings" are 5/8 of a mile.

Typical US racetracks are one mile, on a loop, although races run on the tracks can be shorter or longer. I don't know about other countries, and I'm not sure if this holds true for steeplechases.
