Ok, serious question.
I've only ever had one cat before Shirley and it was a boy.
All my pets dogs etc have been male and now I'm keeping Shirley indoors because I think she must be in heat.
I'm not sure if I should do anything other than keep her indoors I REALISE she should be fixed but I have to get her to the city to do that because I dont trust the vet here with my precious girl.
I'd rather she got prego and I found good homes for the kits than take her here, they put down my friends dog and it could have been fixed, but thats another story. They're just not the big soft hearted animal people you wanna leave your bubby with.
So anyway, she's being strange and chirpy and I'm not sure what to expect or if she's gonna like, make ..."mess" or what, she just started acting like this this afternoon.
Please take this seriously, I love my little girl I want her to be ok, and yes, she'll be spayed as soon as I go to the city so scolding me for thaty wont help please.

She is acting just as Roman has said and with the vet here, I dont trust them, I lost my last cat Bam and I would go nuts if I lost Shirley! I've already saveds her from an abusive alcoholic home!
The friends dog had a broken leg and even when the vet handed it back it was half wrapped in a towl with its legs and head just dangling there just shoved into her arms like a piece of rubbish.
I used to work free in vets and if an animal passed away under any circumstances it was made to look peaceful and given back with respect for the family. We ALWAYS had time for that.

If she's yowling, writhing on the floor, acting kinda like she wants to spray, nervous and odd, she IS most likely in heat. Don't let her out! Not only do you run the risk of pregnancy, but she could be run over, maimed, contract a disease....etc. not to mention the terrible overabundance of homeless & unwanted critters already. It's not fair to them or to your Shirley.
I don't know how old Shirley is...Is this the first time she's acted like this? I can relate to the Vet situation, but if you get to the city and know of a reputable vet, they won't spay her while she's in heat anyway so wait it out! Lol! And do NOT have her injected with hormones to keep her out of heat! One of my cats developed cancers from these shots the vet claimed were safe....and I strongly advise against it.
Good luck with Shirley! I love cats!
Purrrrrrrs! Lol!

Well, you can put up with her caterwauling for hours at a time. But take heart, even kitties in heat need to eat and sleep, so you'll get some rest. I am not sure how long the "in heat" episode actually lasts; but it can't be for more than a week if I remeber correctly from previous experience with a kitty in heat (that was years and years ago). In the meantime, until you can get her fixed, do not let her out of the house. You can put her in the bathroom at night and close the door (make sure she has her litter tray in there)... with any luck, she will simply go to sleep since the lights will be off. Then as soon as you are able, do go and get her spayed.

Your attitude is a bit odd. You would rather risk losing her to a problem pregnancy and would rather give her precious kittens away to people who may not care for them properly, than go to your nearest vet based on one possible incident which you may not know all the facts about?
How do you KNOW your friend's dog could have been fixed? If it could, what reasons did they give for not doing so?
If a vet was guilty of malpractice, they would firstly be struck off and not allowed to practice, or people would simply stop using them. By the fact that they are still in business I'm assuming this isn't the case. I'm afraid I think you are making excuses as to why it is never convenient to have her neutered because you would like to breed from her.If the city vet is the only one who can neuter her, why would you wait until you next went to the city? Why not phone up to book and appointment and take her? What will you do if she falls pregnant and cannot give birth, or there are complications? Will you call the local vet which you refuse to take her to or will you wait until you next go to the city? I think you need to sit down and think carefully about things and use your common sense.

we would desire to continually not end posting poems There are patently some stupid human beings around who've not something extra valuable to do than violate others paintings. over the final week I even have had 4 violations. I even have reposted asking Do you like my poem? and that has been deleted too. 2 days in the past a minimum of 5 poets that i understand of have had their paintings violated. i think of it rather is pathetic and the Yahoo group would desire to be doing to look extra at who's doing the reporting. on the 2nd, the reporter has the better hand. The poet has to make an allure and the only allure that I even have made became into rejected.

OK, sorry for the local vet problem. But all the solutions I know are connected with a vet - there are also injections that will suppress the cat going into heat (I think they last six months or something). I don't know if they can be given when the cat is in heat (my kitty is male too) but I know they exist and work. Just keep her inside and give her attention and play time to distract her. And when you get to a vet people rely on, ask them to get her fixed.

Good luck!

I understand your concern about the local vet. One thing you can do is get a sedative from the vet to give her when she is in heat, and keep her in, this will make her and your life a little more bearable during that time. Please don't let her get preggers unless you already have homes lined up for the kittens.
