if the wine will be red, rum will give it more flavor. like a dark or spiced rum.

Vodka will work the best since it doesn't have much flavor and won't add to your wine. I have used grain-alcohol for the same thing.

Home made wine is not mixed with anything. It's fermented grape juice...take a look:
