Size of tiles does not seem to matter. Larger tiles mean less grout lines. Grout can get stained, wear off, leak.
Light colors are best in small areas. White with an accent color should work well.

I don't think the size of the tiles will matter, but sometimes if you have to cut tiles it is easier if you don't use tiles that are bigger than normal. As for colour, keep it as light as possible. If you find white too cold, try using two different colours. Have a look at the website below to get some ideas.

I don't think the size of the tiles is as important as the colour. You need to keep them as light as possible. Avoid dark blues and greens, but also avoid stark white by itself - it can look far too clinical. Limestone looks fantastic, if your budget will stretch that far. Otherwise try pale greys, soft blues or greens, creams or neutrals.
I'd actually suggest that you use the largest tiles you can find - it would give a contemporary look, and with less grouting, it would appear cleaner and more spacious.

If you ask for esthetics, I would suggest standard tiles. Small tiles could make your small Shower place even more narrow.
If you ask under the technical point of view, I would suggest standard tiles as well. They are easyer to fix, at less work.

yes kitkat is right - use standard and it will look roomier than the small ones. Go white with maybe some turquoise or blue or any cool colour detail just to break the white. If it is practical put a long mirror screwed in the wall in there to add an illusion of space rather than feeling crowded in by walls.

I'd go for small mosaic style tiles, white with some silver, will make the space look clean, tidy and minimalist

Forget those questions and do it the way you like- who are you trying to impress, no one will look at it the way you do or think the same way- a Shower is not a Conversation piece.
