Yes but you still have to pay for the full day. Unless you go to one of the motels that rent by the hour. I wouldn't do that, they're dirty.

No problems go to motels or BandB or ask at the desk for a Short break stopover. Usually these places are frequented by prostitutes too so the bed should be warm

Yes, you've got to ask the hotel if there are transit rates. If there are, then you'll save a lot of money. If there aren't, then you'll have to book the room for one night instead.

Last time I tried it the girl I was with told the people at the front desk that she had to leave for a family emergency and they charged her only half price.

You pay the room ....they don't care how long you stay. MOTEL 6 $28.00-----Super 8 $58.00 HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS $68.00 The WALDORF--------$245.00. They all have the same outcome it depends on how much you want to impress. The experience is PRICELESS....... Even the cheaper motel rooms sometimes have jacuzzi's in the rooms :)
Check in------2-4pm.....You pay for the night...leave when you want!!!
