Many studies have been performed on the relationship between coffee consumption and many medical conditions, ranging from diabetes and cardiovascular disease to cancer and cirrhosis. Studies are contradictory as to whether coffee has any specific health benefits, and results are similarly conflicting with respect to negative effects of coffee consumption.
In addition, it is often unclear whether these risks or benefits are linked to caffeine or whether they are to be attributed to other chemical substances found in coffee (and whether decaffeinated coffee carries the same benefits or risks). One fairly consistent finding has been the reduction of diabetes mellitus type 2 in coffee consumers, an association that cannot be explained by the caffeine content alone and indeed may be stronger in decaffeinated coffee.
Recently, coffee was found to reduce the chances of developing cirrhosis of the liver: the consumption of 1 cup a day was found to reduce the chances by 20%, and 4 cups a day reduced the chances by 80%.

Don't waste your coffee grounds!
A reader asked if I knew of any good uses for used coffee grounds. The question - or I should say, the answer - took me by surprise, because I can find a use for just about any garbage, but coffee grounds? Other than composting them, I was at a loss.
I'm happy to say that after some intense research and a little experimentation, I now have a much better answer!
Yard, garden, and the outdoors offer a lot of opportunities to use coffee grounds:
Compost them, of course (along with the coffee filter!).
Sprinkle on the ground around plants before watering for a slow release of nitrogen.
It's said that a ring of used coffee grounds around a tree or planting will deter ants.
Take this a step further and ring an anthill with them.
Coffee grounds also help eliminate cutworms. Sprinkle them around the problem area.
Mix them with soil before planting houseplants or making a new garden.
Or just dump them on top of the soil in the pots of houseplants. They'll discourage mites and other small bugs as well as enrich the soil. Don't overdo it for container plants, though, because used grounds contain salts.
Use them in a worm bed. Worms love them.
Going fishing? Keep your worms happy in a container with moist, used coffee grounds.
A readers says: I have always used coffee grounds in my garden and some flowers. Strawberrys love them & will be big & flavorful. Hydrangeas, an acid loving plant, will benefit greatly from coffee grounds. Evergreens thrive on having grounds spread around their base. You can put coffee grounds around any acid loving plant, like bluberry bushes. Our soil here, is very alkaline and that's the most frugal way to combat it.
Another reader offers this: I use damp (not too wet) used coffee grounds on my icy steps and sidewalks. The damp grounds stick to the ice, creating a safer surface for walking. There is no damage to the wood deck or sidewalks. My rugs by the doors are dark brown so there's no tracking into my home. The grass next to my sidewalks looks nice and green in the spring, no doubt from the coffee icemelt.

If you mix it with water, and then rub over wood when cleaning, it brings up to a lovely shine! (According to Kim and Aggy on How clean is your house!!)
Putting some fresh coffee on when you are selling your house, is supposed to inspire people to fall in love with your property.
Maybe choose homeowners as your group of people!!
