I will assume that you are a troll. Cats cannot be fed on dog food since most dog food contains very little meat. Thre protein is made from vegetable protein like soya, Cats are obligate carnivores and need meat, hence cats cannot live on dog food, but dogs can live on cat food. I took time to reply not for you (ecause I'm sure you already knew this and just asked a question because you wanted to feel important,)but for people who genuinely didn't know.

No, definately not! Cats and dogs are totally different species, not to mention that they are from very different families, though they both carnivore. Dog food contains the supposed 'meat' and cat food contains the supposed 'fish'. Cats cannoth have dog food as dog food is not made for cats and a cat's digestive system is not made for a dog's diet. There shouldn't be much difference between the prices for dog food and cat food, so you won't save much money buying dog food instead. might even cost you more if your cat suffers side effects.

Daniel, please tell me your kidding, There is a reason there is DOG food and CAT food, anyway y dont u cut down on your own food and feed your cat properly, Cat food is not that expensive, shop around look for special offers at your supermarkets for goodness sake, you can get 12 Sachets of Felix Cat food for less than £3. That is NOT expensive, 1kg of Whiskas Complete is only £2. thats only a Fiver and im sure that would last over a week, so if you think £5 for more than a weeks food is expensive, find someone else who will love and look after your cat properly, maybe you should re-consider having a pet at all!

My view is you cant make an animal eat something that it doesnt want to. My cat eats the dogs food all the time on top of his own meals (but I think that is him just being greedy) just try him out with it and you will see if you can. There are plenty of cheap cat foods in the supermarkets though have you thought about changing his brand?/ reducing the amount and using one meal of wet food and one meal of dry food this way the cat isnt going hungry and its cheaper for you!
Good luck!

You can't feed cats dog food as there are nutrients in it that they need but dogs do benefit from eating cat food Try feeding them dry cat food which is better for them and more economical

Nutritionally dog foods are made for dogs and cat foods are made for cats thats why there are two different types. So it is unwise to try and get your cat to eat the dog food just to save a few pence.

Daniel,
do not give your cat dog food. Cat food, has more vitamins and minerals needed for a cats good health than dog food. Continual dog food would lead to ill health.
Good luck Paula

You could save money, but you would have a dead cat after a while.
There is a reason why it is called DOG food. Cats need more meat in their diets than dogs and more protein. Their nutritional needs are completely different. Please check out www.naturesmenu.co.uk for advice re feeding.
If you cant afford to feed the cat properly to keep him/her healthy and happy, should you have it?

Your cat will eat dog food if it is appetizing. BUT, if you wanted a pet and you wanted to save money, you should have gotten a fish or a bird. GEEZ, feed your cat the correct food so it will stay healthy.

making your cat eat dog food would not save u money in the long run because it would get sick and then you would have vet bills coming out your ears. cat food contains a special ingredient called taurine which dog food does not. you could however let dogs eat cat food
