I work in a fruit market, there are lots of different types of apple.

1. Gala - Most popular, sweet

2. Golden delicious - Not related to red delicious, slightly elongated, sweet and juicy.

3. Red delicious - Named when a nurseryman in 1894 exclaimed, "My that's delicious!. Sweet and juicy

4. Crab apple - Growm locally, usually found in every day gardens.

5. Pink Lady - Pink in colour, sweet and juicy

6. Granny Smiths - Mrs Maria Smith natured the first seedling in the mid 1800's. Mildly tart.

7. Red rome - Named for an apple growing area in Ohio.

8. Winesap - Grandaddy of American apples, wine like flavour.

9, Mcintosh - First apple tree planted by John Mcintosh in about 1811. Two toned red and green

10. Jonathan - Deep red mildly tarty, rich flavour.

500 or so in the UK alone.

Ask the National Fruit collection in Kent, they've got them all.

We've got about 50 types in our orchard.

There's red,green and yellow colors.
The different names(all of them)

i can think of at least four.mackintosh, vermont, fuji and granny smith, but i know there are a lot more than that.
