They go in and make a mess, then NATO goes in to clean it up.But in this case the mess keeps getting messier. The people of Iraq are too far from a democracy. So military action will be necessary at all times.America must stand firm in their beliefs that what Sadam was doing was worth going in and liberating the country, not just for a short period of time. This military action will be wasted unless we all can turn this country around. Not only America but all the other countries now involved in the re-structuring.

There is no way to get out with honor, it's the same situation we faced in Viet Nam, we can't win because there is nothing to win. The only achievable goal we had was removing Saddam from power and we did that with no problem. Now we are faced with a long term occupation similar to what we have in Germany, Japan, and Korea, except, unlike those three, and like Viet Nam, we haven't achieved control of the nation, nor do we have any realistic prospect of ever doing so. As things now stand all we can expect is a repeat of Nam, the government will keep throwing good money, and lives, after bad, until the voters get sick of it and it becomes political suicide not to pull out.

They, or should i say we, the allies will leave when the job is finished.
Millions, not thousands died in the last war, war is not pretty.
In my country, my parents were carpet bombed every other night.
But they dug in until the allies won.
We cannot, and will not leave Iraq, or Afghanistan for the scum terrorist to regroup, and then one day hit us all again. The next time it might be with a nuclear weapon they hit us with?????
IRAN???

I don't think it's possible now, things have gone too far.
The real question here is when it becomes full blown civil war in Iraq, what will USA & UK do then?
This will not be resolved for years if ever, China will have to be involved at some point.

america cannot extricate itself with honour. It is far too late for that. All america can now do is minimise its dishonour, and that not by much. However, I doubt if honour is a meaningful concept to americans, at least to those who are running their country.

By reinstating Saddam Hussain back as president of Iraq since America is yet to justify war on Iraq, since all their earlier claims were not true facts only assumptions which they had already accepted.

There's no honor in this war, and America will come out looking bad no matter what it does. The Shiites have been saying they want a new government. If they get their way, and the government of Iraq tells the US to get out, perhaps it will.

The sooner you remove the thorn in your side the better. Even if you bleed a little more once it's out, it's the only way to heal.
