I made some chicken fajitas, but misread the recipe and put two tablespoon of chilli powder in, instead of two teaspoons! Do I need to take a fire extinquisher to the loo with me?

You may feel a little heat from the chilli but you can dull that down by adding some sour cream to your fajitas.
The chemical in Chillis that causes the heat sensation is called Capsaicin and this in not soluable in water so therefore just drinking water will do nothing at all.
However there are enzymes in most dairy products that can break down Capsaicin so even if you have a glass of milk whilst eating you'll not suffer so badly.
Failing that just stick a toliet roll in the freezer before bed.

Why don't you try the dairy trick, add a healthy dollop of cream/cottage cheese either to the chicken curry mixture or on the fajitas themselves. It'll give a nice creamy texture & help lessen the burn.

Best thing to do is to cook another batch of the fajitas minus any chillies. Mix the first batch with the second. Freeze the excess and enjoy them at a later date!!!!!!!!!!

If it was red chilli then dont worry. Just put the same amount of GREEN chilli powder in.
They cancel each other out.

You should be fine, just have the baby wipes ready!!
also if it tasted good you know now how to adapt the recipe to your taste.
Recipes are just a guide line I usually like to adapt them anyway, either by changing the quantities or replacing ingredients with something similar.

Chili Powder ?!!! or Cayenne...Chili Powder in the US is not very spicy. It will only add flavor. I am assuming that you are in the UK, but I think chili powder is pretty much the same. You will know how it will "come out" if it "went in" hot...then it will come out hot.Was it real spicy or not?
