I know several people who have bought dresses online. YOu should go into a store and try some on though. The general rule is to buy it one size bigger than you are. You always want to be able to alter it down a size. You can't alter it up a size. You can also get your measurements and when you're lookign online ask sellers what the measurements of the dresses are. That will help a lot. I have a brand new dress with tags if you're interested. :)

The fact that you've asked this question tells you that it might not be such a good idea. Unless the site specificallyl has their sizes and measurements listed for each dress, you could be in for a hassle. Furthermore, in order to ensure a proper fit, you'd need to be professionally measured for the dress you want to buy online. You might save a few bucks on the dress, but be prepared to pay more for the alterations. When you buy your dress from a vendor locally, they usually alter for free or give you a break on the cost of alterations. You won't have that advantage buying online, and with the online buying, it's no returns. Good luck.

You definately have to put it on first. Wedding dresses fit a lot different than regular dresses. I'm normally a size 6 or 8, and my wedding dress was a 12. do never buy it online..

There is nothing wrong with buying your dress online-- I bought mine online (on ebay actually- how else could you get a $2500 dress for a mere $300!) As far as sizing...most dress designers/manufacturers have a website that you can go to to see a sizing chart. Also, wedding dresses tend to run a bit small, so they usually recommend a size larger than your normal dress size (ex: if you normally wear a size 4 dress, you would probably need a size 6 wedding dress. )

If you do decide to do this, make sure its a website where the dress can be returned for a full refund if it does not fit right or if you don't like it. You can always get the dress altered in the long run. I brought my wedding dress online and it worked out perfect. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time for ordering, trying it on, and returning it back if needed. Happy dress hunting!!

My friend has just done this and got the dress of her dreams for a fraction of the price. Just make sure you take plenty of measurements of yourself. Also you could email/call the online store for further information on the dress that you are interested in.

If you tell them your measurements they may be able to recommend the best size in that dress for you.

Alterations can be made by a seamstress also.

Good Luck!

I bought my wedding dress on e-bay it was dirt cheap. ($300.00)
A similar dress at a bridal shop was 1500.00!!!
I think it is a great idea, We are spending enough money on our wedding no need to spend more than nesscary!
The way that I bought my dress was I got a seamstress to do my measurements and then I sent them to the seller and they reccomended a size for me.
did you know most wedding dresses can either be made 2 sizes bigger or smaller.
If you deicde on ebay Search the seller Heiphy and you will not be dissapointed
Here's a link to the sellers store

I bought my wedding dress at jcrew.com. Luckily, I have bought other clothes are J. Crew at their stores before, so I knew what size to get. The dresses are beautiful and only around $300 - I had to get it altered slightly, but I knew what size to get by trying on clothes in the store.

Not really. You want the dress to fit perfectly so you will look beautiful. Unless this is the deal of a lifetime, I would look closer to home where you can try it on.
