My two favorite remedies are Theraflu for immediate symptom relief, and a multivitamin (which you should always take) plus a 1 gram vitamin C in the morning,
and 1 gram vitamin C at night, and a lot of fluids, fruit juice mostly (not a juice drink, the actual juice).
I never have a cold long. Vitamin C is a great immune booster, and the 1 gram doses knock the cold out quickly. It is also cheap.
Good luck!

Drink lots of water Don't sleep with the air con on. A good thing that can help is to sweat it out. Cover yourself with a thick cover/blanket and sweat. Don't take off the covers just to get some cold air otherwise it won't work. Just stay beneath them and sweat. Make sure you wipe your sweat though or have a towel behind your back and neck. Yeah that's basically it. =] Hope it helps. =D

I grab vitamin C right away when I start feeling lousy. It helps me. I take 2 pills to get it in my system and one in the afternoon and one a bedtime. The next day I take 1 =3 times a day until I get over the cold. It really does help. I know when I need another one because the cold symptoms come back.

I swear by Vicks "First Defence" ,It's quite expensive at over £6.00 a bottle and it's not pleasant squirting the stuff up your nose. but of the 8 or nine times I have used it I would give it a 100% success rate with results within a few hours.

unfortunately, colds are viral and take about 10-14 days to completely leave your system....

you can help alleviate the symptoms though...

for the daytime since you have to work-take dayquil. it will not make you sleepy and will help dry up your nose and quiet your cough.

at nite-take nyquil to help you sleep. drink hot tea with honey (i like peppermint best) to help your throat, and put a warm mist humidifier in your room to keep the air moist-this will prevent your nasal passages and throat from becoming too dry and sore.

drink plenty of fluids to help prevent dehydration and rest as much as possible...

hope you feel better

>pea brew :- one tin of marrow fat peas boiled in vinegar with a drop of olive oil and one teaspoon of black pepper and half a crushed chilly.pour into a lge mug and drink using a spoon to eat the peas mmmmmm !
>a hot toddy:- taken before you go to bed, boil lemonade in a pan and then add to a large tot of scotch single malt whisky add a drop of olive oil a slice of lemon and a tea spoon of honey. you will feel great in the morning as you sweat it out while you sleep. extra mmmmmmmm !

Drink some Hot Tea, or if you just got the symptoms then try using Airborne. It works well.
