I think that is a very valid and thought provoking question. I believe that lethal injection would have been most likely to fulfill prophecy (as the table still resembles a cross-like shape, the needles would have been akin to nails used back then, no bones would have been broken). However, the electric chair is more severe a punishment... but that is less akin to prophecy, and poses the risk of broken bones, bears no resemblance to the brazen serpent upon the pole... but does have the added benefit of having something akin to the crown of thorns.
I personally believe that lethal injection would have been the way to go, had it have happened nowadays instead of back then.

This is a hard one, I think if Jesus never came 2000 years ago the world would be very different. I think a more sound question would be if Jesus came back would he be crucified again? I think that it would be no. I can probably think of some reasons but I'll choose not to.

Who ever you are, Jesus cannot die! Jesus the son of man is a man made of flesh and blood , but Jesus as the Son of God is made of Spirit and His spirit has no beginning and no ending. Jesus the Christ can die in His body which He accepted to take to die for mankind, but His spirit never dies because He is God in his essence. So whether Jesus comes now or yesterday or 2000 years from now, He remains the same yesterday, tomorrow and forever. He never changes. I just want to tell you that Jesus came in flesh and blood or as a man to die for man. He ascended to His Father God, ALLAH. He is coming back to claim His own and now He has prepared a place for all his believers whether Muslims Christians Buddhist or any human being that thanked Him for carrying his sins on the cross.

Jesus' sentence was the one reserved for the most perverted criminals of his time. I think that if he was to die in 2006, it would be the same, that is things like hanging, electric chair, lethal injection, gas chamber..., after big tortures.

He wouldn't make any impact. We are so de-sensitized to anything extra-ordinary. He'd probably have his own reality TV show, and his punishment would be living with the shame of C-star status.
But without the story of Jesus, this world would have been un-tainted/influenced by Christianity and who knows what kind of society we would live in.

If Christ came today, a lot of people would follow Him as they did in when He came years ago. But yes the self righteous, the liars, the cheats, thieves the unbelievers, the majority of them would still crucify Him all over again.

I think Jesus would "die" or choose to do so himself after seeing the current state of affairs in the world.
