My ex-boyfriend wants us to get back together. We talked last night and while he was pleading his case he told me that he was completely dependant on me, he couldn't function properly without me and that no one would ever be able to need me as much as he does...

But is that necessarily a good thing?

It's great to know that he does actually appreciate the things I do and that my presences has such an impact on his life but I want to be loved for what and who I am and not for the things I can do for him.

So, ignore my situation and just answer this:

Would you rather be needed or wanted?

Lx

I would rather be wanted than needed, there is nothing worse than someone saying they need you to survive, you are supposed to be their partner, not their mother.......

That's actually a very good question. Personally, I think I would rather be wanted. It's always good to know that you are needed, but I like to be with people who are a bit more independant.

But as far as your situation goes, I think you should leave this guy in your past. He seems to have an unhealthy obsession with you.

Being wanted is much more desirable than feeling needed.
Women simply need to be "wanted"
Whereas, men need to be "needed and wanted"
Your ole' man sounds like a bullsh** artist. Follow your first mind it's normally right! It's ok that you show your love to your mate but don't over due it! Women are to be spoiled by men. To spoil a man would only make him lazy-daisy, arrogant, and self centered. Learn from your mistakes...don't ever create that ugly monster again.

Both. There is nothing wrong with being needed as long as it is for the right reasons like love and support. But this guy' A little to clinging.

I would say its better to be wanted because being needed lacks independecy on the other party and you want some one who will also bennefit your needs and desires....u would be an enabler to this person and there is no growth in a relationship being like that...

its better to be wanted. this guy needs u to much, he might not even love u or want u. he probably needs u cause u give him money or something. it is ALWAYS better to be wanted and lived, then needed but not cared for

lots of luv,

Wanted. To put it simply, if someone told me they needed me, I would run like hell. I can't think of anything more unhealthy.

It's terrible and you should not be with a "man" like that. Get rid of this pathetic little wimp.

Wanted sounds more positive. If needed, then you have less choice.
