Violence must be stopped. People and law enforcement agencies should cooperate to curb violence in the streets.

The country as a whole is out of control, the reason for this, is quite simply, there is no real deterrent for doing crime. The Judiciary nowadays are so soft on hard criminals they make a mockary of the laws available to them, most murderers nowadays get sent down for maybe 25 Years and get out in 10 on parole, which is nothing for taking a life. People will only do things as long as they know they can do them without fear of personal harm or reprisal, which is why kids nowadays seem to think they can do as they please and never be challenged about it. I blame the government, political correctness and the whole stinking socialist mess that is the laws in the UK, as for the police, about the only thing they can do is nab you for going a few mph over the speed limit, anything difficult or requiring a bit of time, forget it!! There is a giant shake up of the law and the legal system required in the UK, one part of which that needs to be brought back is the death penalty for murder, only to be used when the crime has been proven with no doubt, the Americans haven't abandoned this practice! I live in Glasgow, not a single night goes past on the local news where there isn't a story about someone being stabbed or severely beaten, sometimes apparently unprovoked. I despair about the UK, as time goes on, it just seems to go further and further downhill, and no one seems to care anymore, the government sure as hell don't, the politicians are too busy trying to be noticed on the international stage and sooking up to the likes of George Bush to be bothered with this dingy little country that they are supposed to be running, yes, vote Labour and watch them run your country into the ground!

I agree with you that crime is out of control, and not just knife crime. There is so much which isn't right. I am not sure about the solution though. I think it all stems from a lack of respect and accountablilty. Many children are not brought up to know the difference between right and wrong and don't know what respect is. Teachers are powerless to control classes. I would like to see the cane brought back in schools for serious offences. I'd also like to see tougher prison sentences for serious crimes. The Government seems to be more concerned with those caught speeding than those who stab or shoot.

We had the same problem before in Scotland with razor attacks and we introduced automatic sentencing of 7 years (I think it was 7). Thats what we should be doing now if you are caught carrying a knife there should be an automatic sentence of 5 years without parole and we should use this as a deterrent. And I have to say that convicted sex offenders should have a 3 strike rule. Either life in prison or the death penalty, which I am not in favour of particularly but I see no other recourse.

The ONLY way to control Knife/gun culture (violent crimes in general) is to re-introduce Capital Punishment. Where for example, a death by violent crime is punishable by death or if in the case of insanity then permanent incarceration in a mental institution should apply. I don't think arming the police is necessarily a good thing (although inevitable)as they are prone to mistakes.
The legal system is far too soft on these crimes and we have a right to feel protected by the law, which we help fund.

I agree with you 100%, Unfortunately, it is the government that makes the laws and as the current one is full of hippie social working lefties, nothing will be done! The conservatives now have a 'tree hugging' leader that seems just a wet so even they won't get it done. It is up to the people of Britain to make a stand. Why should all these Poofs in Parliament vote on capital punishment....There should be a Referendum then we can ALL have our say! Then maybe at last something WILL be done about it and our streets will be safe again

Anyone that commits an act of violence against another should be locked in a large cell. The victim's family would be allowed a 15 minute visit to that person, unaccompanied by the police.
Extreme? Yes. But so is stabbing or shooting someone!

The police and the courts have their hands tied - all that is considered are the human rights of the accused - the victim doesn't seem to count.
Hit the perpetrators where it hurts, in the pocket and their free time.
Capital punishment doesn't work as the police can get things wrong

This is a huge problem & to deal with it, the country & Mp's etc, must face up to what is creating the right conditions for crime.
No one wants to admit that the majority of these crimes are carried out by young black males, ( no I am not racist, but have had access to stats).
All too many whites & blacks have been reared in dysfunctional families, 3rd or 4th generation unemployed, gang membership, drug abusing parent who is neglectful. These young people have become feral & unless there is some very unpopular intervention to withdraw the means for these people to continue their lifestyle & activities, to order the whereabouts of these people, then it will not change.
Reforms of the justice system that reflect crimes against people as more serious that financial crime must happen.
Dangerous sex offenders not allowed to interact with mainstream society.
It is not possible to stop & search all for guns & knives, but it is possible to place restrictions on people who are paid for by the state, on social security & on release from prison or secure mental health care.
This all started in the Thatcher years when she declared," there is no such thing as society", but there is and there must be for a safe future for us all. Anyone who does not live behind a luxury gated, security patroled developement in Chelsea is in danger from random crime.
But we have to face some unpaletable truth about the underbelly of our society & be brave enough to deal with it.

There are not enough police patroling our streets all they do is drive around in there cars. This gives the criminal more confidence. Its not there fault but they should be doing more stop and searches on random people and i also think certain public places should have some sort of metal detector and guard to check things out
