This question is raised on Y! Q/A every so often. Several points:
1) We don't know what age Aisha was. People in those days -- and even today in Yemen and elsewhere in Arabia, in Africa, etc. often do not know their dates and years of birth. I have seen dozens of passports marked "born 'about 19XX'".
2) Marriage at puberty was common then as now in parts of the world. Even in Mexico today, indigenous tribal peoples marry off their daughters at puberty. And see the reference below: Maryland, like some other states, had no minimum age for marriage with judicial consent.
3) Lina Medina, a Peruvian, became pregnant at age 5. She was flown to Chicago to see doctors; she's still alive today, as is her son.

About a hundred years ago or more, children as young as four or five were put to work in the UK in factories, they usually started having kids at about 10 and were dead from the pollution and unsafe conditions by the time they were 30.
There are different opinions about Aishas age when she lived with him but it was definately after puberty. Just look in any school in the UK and you will find pregnancies at this age. I even saw a program about girls in the US abot 9 who were desperate to have babies.
What apears to be acceptable and correct now is not necessarily the same in history. eg. the the famous ancient greek philosophers who were supposed to have invented democracy were all partial to young boys.

Of course he was!! If you travel travel to the more seedier places in the world what's the first thing you see? Muslims with little girls & boys in bars drinking alcohol before they take them upstairs for sex. Yes. Perhaps social morality was different then, but human anatomy and psychology is not. A girl of 9 years is a child, does not even have a period yet, not even breasts, she is not mature physically for sex life. A wise man, a prophet, should respect that.
