Conjunctivitis are both, sore and itchy and runny. Now if you have conjunctivitis, I recommend doing two things...first try some antihistamine such as chlor-trimeton 4 mg (OTC) at 4 hr intervals...may make you sleepy...be sure not to buy the extended capsules....try it for two days...and use Murine or other eye drops for comfort. If within 48 hours, you have no relief, then go to your physician as you have infectious conjunctivitis and require an antibiotic. Bathing your eyes with mild boric acid solution will help but not cure the problem. Wear dark glasses as photophobia is common and irritates the eyes more.

Itchiness, tears, soreness are just some of the signs of conjunctivitis. Not a serious disease but can be transmitted very easily. Tough to cure. Keep washing the eye and use the anti-bacterial medicine that you got from the doctor. The cure takes time; however, do not neglect the problem because it can affect the eyes.

Redness, irritation and watering of the eyes are symptoms common to all forms of conjunctivitis. Itch is variable.
Acute allergic conjunctivitis is typically itchy, sometimes distressingly so, and the patient often complains of some lid swelling. Chronic allergy often causes just itch or irritation, and often much frustration because the absence of redness or discharge can lead to accusations of hypochondria.
Viral conjunctivitis is often associated with an infection of the upper respiratory tract, a common cold, or a sore throat. Its symptoms include watery discharge and variable itch. The infection usually begins with one eye, but may spread easily to the fellow eye.

usually pink is a combination of redness, itchiness, swelling, and drainage of pus...
itchiness and soreness could be a result of allergies. try taking some over the counter allergy medication and see if that helps. don't put anything in your eyes-including drops b/c if you do in fact have pink eye (conjuctivitis)-you could irritate it more, causing the itch to worsen. pink eye is a viral infection and you'll need antibiotic eyedrops to treat it.
make an appt to see your doctor within 24 hours if the allergy medication doesn't help or if your eyes start to drain or are crusted shut after sleeping.
make sure to wash your hands frequently and try to avoid touching anything after rubbing your eyes until you wash your hands.
pink eye is highly contagious and spreads quickly so make sure to get it checked out....

I wouldn’t say they weep but they do get sticky and can be hard to open especially in the mornings, the doctor will only advise you to bath them in warm salted water with clean cotton wool (do not use the same piece for both eyes the infection could spread to booth eyes).

It is possible to get an eye infection, basically a cold in your eye. Go to a doctor, they will know just by looking at it.
