Some have a weak system, when I had pneumonia my immune system was so weakened I was constantly coming down with colds for months after recovery.

Depends on your location at the time. For instance, a school teacher is with sick kids all day, they catch colds very easy. Lack of vitamin c also may have something to do with it.

Depending on the disease, many diseases are airborne, just being around someone else who is sick. Or, if you are talking about something like HIV/ AIDS, unprotected sex, and using dirty needles is one way. Risky life brings on risky or dire consequences.

Not eating well is also another way to invite sickness...obesity for example can bring on or contribute to diabetes.

All of the childhood diseases. Before the time of vaccines. My Rheumatic fever was treated with massive doses of aspirin and 6 months of bed rest. Now Rheumatic fever is treated with antibiotics.

By having poor habits of hygiene, unhealthy diets and lack of rest or water. Climate and environment can also be a contributing factor.

By letting their hands get dirty, and then touching food with their dirty hands, and then eating it. Or eating food that has been touched by others' dirty hands. Or eating food that has been walked on by people with dirty feet.
