If you brush your hair to the top off your head and twist it then cut at the ends off.... does this work to get layers?

No you would have to have someone do it for you so you would get the look you want. You don't want to be tempted to try something and end up making a mess you don't want or need.

When my hair was long and I wanted extra curl a poof I would put six braids in my hair, wet them down, then after they dried over night I would undo the braids and I would have an instant hair style.

Hello

In the last 7 years I've only paid once to have my hair done (cos I wanted a fringe cut in) as I do it similar to how you've described.

I bend over (letting my hair dangle towards the floor), grab hold of the hair about half way down - depends how long I want the layers - as it to put it in a naff high 80s ponytail. I then cut in as straight a line as possible. Repeat to make sure you havent missed any chunks.

Et voila! Cool chunky layers for free.

(No, I don't look like a scarecrow lol)

EDIT: If you use Lycos chat I have a pic on there where you can just about make out the layers.

Sure it works. Depending on where on top of your head you make the cut. Cloler to your forhead will leave shorter bangs. More toward the center of your head (skull) will result in longer bangs. Any one can cut their own hair. Can't say I've ever had a good professional hair cut that pleased me -- they don't listen, cut bad, AND I felt obligated to tip! apologies beauticians, my experience.

If you want layers at the back YES.

BUT I wouldn't reckomend cutting your own hair, espically when you are trying to cut in layers!

GOOD LUCK

No. You will have uneven layers all over, and it will be really short in the *middle* of the top.
