My cat Bagheera never pesters me when I am eating...EXCEPT when I finish a late shift and grab a McDonalds! At this moment he is climbing all over my workstation trying to nab my Sausage and Egg McMuffin! And as many times I say No, your not having this one! I always relent and end up with just the egg and muffin!

Oh my, I thought it was just mine.
Mine will turn down chicken, biltong (beef jerkey), even friggin tuna - but if I bring in the junior cheeseburger he turns into a bloody monster. If I'm not careful and I leave the wrapper on the floor, heaven help that little piece of melted cheese stuck to it. He licks and licks till he makes a hole through the paper with his lil raspy tongue!
So the question we need to be asking ourselves is: WHAT THE HECK ARE THEY PUTTING IN THERE????
Cocaine, crack, heroine? It must be something along those lines, because every now and then - the urge attacks, and I need McDonalds....
shame, and now he's addicted too!
:-)

If you feed him he'll keep begging, but every once in while is alright. It's not going to kill him. He's twelve for god's sake, he deserves a treat every once in a while. I hope when I'm 84, somebody is nice enough to give me a treat every once in a while. But I would just stick to the meat or egg. He probably gets enough carbs from the food you feed him, so you really don't need to add on anymore. If your talking in moderation, a little bit every once in a while, don't worry. It won't hurt him at all.

Don't feed the cat McNasty food or somebody might report you to the SPCA, or PETA might protest outside your door. LOL
Seriously, as long as it is only an occasional treat there isn't anything wrong with it. I sometimes give my dogs and cats table scraps and they are healthy. It's like candy, you can have a little now and then, but you can't make it your meal.

I guess he likes it because it smells good. But I suggest that you stop feeding him macdonalds because it has a high salt content that might make his fur drop and also because over feeding might result in him being obese. You wouldn't want that now, would you? So the next time he wants it, firmly say no and don't relent (because if you say no but then give it to him, it might send mixed messages and he would get confused). I find that spraying a little bit of water helps to get your point across. My cat likes to jump on the table to eat our food and usually I say no very firmly and if he still doesn't get off, I'll get the plant spray and spray him in the face (just a little) and he hates that and usually gets off at once.

Do your cat and yourself a favour and stay away from the fat and salt laden filth that MuckDonalds sells. You will help to make your cat very sick as they cannot tolerate the high salt levels in the crap they sell as food. Cook yourself some healthy food when you get home and share that with the cat.

He wants it for the same reason you get it, smells and tastes good. Dont let people beat you up. you dont do it all the time and I bet most of them table feed their pets now and then too. Every thing needs a small treat now and then. Its not like you get him a sandwitch of his own every day.

Cats always want what's on your plate which is why they try and jump up while your eating anything. Put a plate of some of his favourite food down by you so that he'll eat that and leave you alone to eat your McD's
