Contrary to common belief, there was never a one-time, truly universal decision as to which books should be included in the Bible.
It took over a century of the proliferation of numerous writings before anyone even bothered to start picking and choosing, and then it was largely a cumulative, individual and happenstance event, guided by chance and prejudice more than objective and scholarly research, until priests and academics began pronouncing what was authoritative and holy, and even they were not unanimous

copied and pasted from some website but anyways, Jesus didnt write the bible, so why should we believe some ancient guy who probaly lived in poverty and had no educational background. it could all be stories which people believed and still believes.

much like homer and his works which the greeks believed (Odysseus and the Illiad)

precisely. u rather be scared of hell and stay constrained in a religion which through all its message of peace of love, is based on thousands of years of corruption, lies, and evil. lets name em.

crusades, witch burnings, molestation of little kids, killing instead of respecting others religion, spreading the fear of hell.

i rather FACE hell, than be scared of it and become a part of something based on fiction and hipocracy

k thanx ;)

precisely my point.

the bible is made divine by MAN. not GOD, not JESUS, not ALLAH, not anything. man which claims that humanity is sinful, wrote the bible. thus sin was in the bible all along and we didnt know it =/ how gullible humans are

2006-10-02 21:56:04 · update #4

also, the bible will be changed over and over again, thanx for making another point.

galileo said the world was round, and then guess what the priests are like o noe the bible says its flat, o guess what with satellite imaging we can see the world is not flat, or even round its a sphere. precisely my point how humans make such silly mistakes, and its easy to just cover it up and pretend like it never happened it through faith

between im not an aetheist, but i refuse to be part of a religion which deceits others.

the old testament, its all fake, where was dinosaurs, if adam and eve was white, how do we have ethnic diversity.

so what were gona change the bible and say there was dinosaurs livign with adam and eve, and that adam and eve had the genes to make a racialy diverse world

no one here has answered my questions< and the funny thing all along is that i am not a stupid atheist tryign to prove god is wrong, im in fact a person that believes in Jesus and God, but im trying to prove that the bible is corrupted, and its corrupted by man. it has a few words of wisdom, and i respect it for that, but that doesnt exclude the fact that its fake. much like fiction novels carry a few bits of wisdom as well.

Your answer is somewhat correct and somewhat incorrect. Yes, the decisions were made by men -- no doubt about it. But the decisions weren't as arbitrary and capricious as you imply.

You're right, there were many different books vying for a place in the canon, but the decision to include or exclude was made by community consensus as to what books were being commonly read by the various communities of believers. This was a time before pollsters, so the church fathers couldn't conduct detailed survey research to arrive at a consensus. Instead, they brought leaders from around the known world and discussed, debated and tried to reach a conclusion based on the reading realities of the community as a whole.

The Bible is the authentic note, besides the actual shown reality that many misunderstandings and controversies have resulted from the quite a few translations from the Hebrew, Greek and Romans. What the president says he desires were authentic, and would have good intentions. If mom says so, it really is continually because she needs you to do some thing you does no longer in the different case have the understanding and adventure to do. the web would or would no longer be authentic, searching on who's writing on the internet. you could carry close your elements. Newspapers will be fairly biased. some thing printed on paper would or would no longer be authentic, searching on what's written and by skill of whom. All books aren't any more authentic because the final public of them are fiction. regularly authentic books contain factors of reality. what's important to you is not any matter if what you say is authentic.

Dude, the trick to a good question is to keep it focused and short and sweet. Plus stop adding stuff to your question.

But to answer your basic question, is the Bible fake or not, no it isn't. You are right that some of the Bible was put together long after the events occurred. Especially true in the case of parts of the New Testament, put together by the early Catholic Church a few centuries A.D.

Some of the greatest works in human history took a long time to put together.

There's a ton more ancient documentation to corroborate the Biblical texts than any works by Homer or other such writers. Do a little study on the consistency of the Dead Sea scrolls. You might also study up on textual criticism to understand why certain texts became a part of the Biblical canon and others didn't. Just dismissing the Bible outright as fake really doesn't wash.

The early church leaders and fathers quoted the biblical books in their writings and letters. The New Testament could be reconstructed, about 98% of it, from those writings. The Old Testament books has many scrolls and quotes from Jesus and the apostels that verify them. All that is before any council came together to deal with the subject.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN CAME INTO EXISTENCE CENTURIES AFTER THE BIBLE AND TORA. People who believe in it seem to think a counterfeit comes before the original. Islamic believers cannot validate the claim that the Bible is the counterfeit because the Bible's existence preceded the Qur'aan.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN TESTIFIES ABOUT ONE TRUE GOD (ALLAH) AND HIS PROPHETS. These truths were in the Bible and Torah long before the Qur'aan. This fact reveals that the Qur'aan is not the first writtings about God and his prophets and suggests that the Qur'aan is not authentic but a forgery.

FACT: IT WAS WRITTEN BY THE ASSOCIATES OF MUHAMMAD (pbuh). Muhammad could not read nor write. Therefore, Muhammad could not verify the validity of the holy book.

FACT: THE QUR'AAN's EXISTENCE WAS AFTER THE TECHNOLOGY OF WRITTING WAS INVENTED. Believer's of the Qur'aan and Islam think the errors in the Bible prove it is not the Word of Allah. Nothing is further from the truth. The technology of writing didn't exist in the time when stories of salvation history were unfolding. So, naturally there are errors since the oral tradition existed before the invention of writing.

The Bible is not 100% accurate but, there are some things to take into consideration before declaring the Bible an invalid source to believe in. You ask a lot of good questions.

There are some problems with the Bible and errors. Please remember, the Old Testament was passed down by oral tradition before the technology of writing was available. Compared to the Quran which existed long after the technology for writing was invented. So, yes there are grammatical errors.

Secondly, there are different ways to interpret based upon the "literary forms" of writers. Depending whether it is in a historical context, prophetic, poetry, or some other type of literary form. I believe Jesus Christ IS THE WORD of God. The Bible is written by people inspired by God.

If you took a Bible course and discovered what SCRIPTURAL TYPOLOGY is you would be amazed. If you knew what SALVATION HISTORY was in the Bible you would understand. If you recognized DIVINE AUTHORITY you would know that there has to be someone in authority to reveal the "secret" truths God has given. If you research all those phrases you will begin a journey of discovery that will last a life time.

We have a saying in Catholicism: the New Testament is hidden in the Old and the Old is revealed in the New. There are many mysteries contained in the Bible that I have been amazed at discovering for the past 20 years and there is a whole lot more. St. Jerome said: Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ. The whole Bible is about our SALVATION: Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament about the Messiah you can discover 50 of them in cd's IT IS WRITTEN.

WHEN YOU HAVE BEGUN TO DISCOVER THESE THINGS YOU WILL KNOW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY MAN WITHOUT INSPIRATION FROM GOD. Jesus (a historical figure along with others in the Bible that are not fictitional characters) by fulfilling just 50 prophesies makes the odds of doing that 10X135 power! An astronomical figure that could not have been achieved by human means.

Good question. The fact is, bible and other books are based on true words from jesus and others, but as with human nature and non-ending desires, those words have been changed over the hundred years to satisfy people needs, rather than God's well.

Some facts remain however, most importantly is the fact that jesus in his bible, and other prophets all spoke of the last prophet named Ahmad. This is the prophet of Islam. Of his known names with God was Ahmad, along with Mohammad. In Quran, God vowed to keep the words of Quran maintained, unchanged, and they are today.

Another thing Bible speaks of, are 12 kings or so. The only religion that has it, is the muslim Shi'te, as they have 12 imams, sons of Prophet Mohammad and the rightful heir of his leadership.

Wow! What a unusual RANT. I believe that no one cares how you feel about it. People will still believe. This was a waste of space and thought. The bible is true. It's unfortunate that you have to be told this. People who don't want to conform to God's morality but their own are weak and clueless.

Okay, cute question and all, but what does the rant after your question have to do with proof as the to evidence of the Bible being "fake" or not?

Second of all, what do you mean by "fake"?

Hey, I don't know about you, but I'd rather have faith in a man with "no educational background" and go to Heaven after I die than mock him and his followers and wind up in Hell. It's all a matter of faith.

If you were to open up a Bible, you would find the answer to all of your questions. (And quite easily, might I add.)

Read the story of the Tower of Babel.

Ignorance isn't bliss, dear. Sorry.
