Id have to check, but I dont think the serpent of Gan Eden (Hebrew- Garden of Eden) is identified as the devil. In fact, the Hebrew bible doesn't have the developed Satan of the New Testament. He was just an angel of God meant to test people.

If God wanted to create a talking snake, he could. This is a snake indwelt by Satan. Demons can indwell people and they can indwell animals too. They prefer some kind of a body as opposed to just floating around as a spirit. that's why they have exorcisms.

No, it says in The Bible that in Gen. 3:1 that the serpent was more subtil [smarter] then any other beast of the field, so satan "used" him the same as he uses you, did you know Jesus the second member of the God head used that same symbol, In numbers 21 it talks about a serpent on a pole, and John 3:14 it says even as moses lifed up the serpent, even so The Son of man must be lifted up, hay there is free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com God bless as you seek Him, EMAIL not messanger me also wgr88@yahoo.com visit a Seventh Day Adventist Church in your area.

Satan wasn't literally a snake in the garden of Eden. It's figurative. Even Christ called our generation a "wicked generation full of vipers." He's not talking about literal snakes.
