Garlic has recently found to cause anemia in dogs..I have heard of the remedy all of my life, but have never known it to help much..Perhaps some types of fleas, but not the ones I have met!
REVOLUTION is fairly new on the market, and is super effective! where has it been all my life! it also prevent heartworms and many other parasites, internal and external..it is just a liquid to apply to the back of the shoulders/neck area..You can get it at vet clinics, and they are encouraged to give the first treatment free..

Hi, I actually use the Brewer's Yeast/Garlic tabs with my doberman. I take her camping and outdoors with me a LOT and the flea/tick treatment that you squirt on their back was simply washing away too fast from all the outdoor and water activities we do. My friend used to breed labs and she suggested this to me. I was interested in it since it is supposed to also help their skin and coat as well. I started my dog on the tabs at the end of last year and haven't given her any flea/tick treatments since then. I live in Ohio, but visit SC often, so I know she is exposed. However I haven't found any fleas or ticks on her since I started the tabs. The ones I give suggest 1 tab for every 10 lbs. She doesn't smell any different than she used to, and I've even asked other people if she's stinky. No one has said anything so far and it's been nearly a year. I figure I have saved myself about $70 this year alone by switching. She gets 7 tabs a day and it was about $20 for a bottle. I think that lasted 4 months, which is much cheaper. Also she likes them, and looks forward to taking her 'pills' everyday (I also give her fish oil pills b/c dobies are known for dry skin).
My friend also told me that she used it in place of heartworm medication, but I'm not willing to take that chance. So my dog still gets heartworm medication, but no more flea/tick treatments. I started mine on the tabs during her last flea/tick treatment so she'd have a while to build whatever-it-is up in her system before I stopped the treatments.
I know several people who use this and no one has had any adverse side-effects from it. My friends dogs (which were field labs) lived to be 14-16. Hope this helps. Oh, and I buy a GIANT container of it off of kvvet.com for a lot cheaper than it is in the pet store.
Sidenote- The brewer's yeast and garlic tabs come in one pill containing both ingredients.

I don't know about garlic, but fronline helps or K9 avantix, they both help the prevention of fleas, Flea eggs, Ticks and Mosquitoes to some extent* But save your dog some pain and next month, please get your dog flea "repellent" These last the whole month. Also, although this is off the subject, give your dog som heart worm pills. How old is the dog because it is not advised you use frontline on puppies under ten weeks old; I don't know why, but it might cause some problems I will have to look in to. But also, about the heart worm pills, take your dog to the vet to get a heart worm test or, most of the time, they will refuse to sell the pills/chewable to you. If your dog does have heart worms and you give it the pill, it has, so I hear, a 50:50 chance of dying. but discourage your dog from eating garbage at a garbage yard or any fowl, as it( the fowl in most cases), will have tapeworm, which steals food from your dog's digestive track, and your dog could die because of starvation. Also, not only the risk is high for tapeworm when your dog eats the fowl with the tapeworm or tapeworm larva, the fowl could also have some deadly diseases. So yeah, hope you enjoyed the the thing on how to prevent your dog from getting sick or dying. I don't know if garlic helps. * K9 avatix is the only one I know that treats Mosuquitoes Also, always get your flea "repellent at the vets office to ensure health for your dog, not the Food Lion or Wal-Mart because these do not work as well. Hope you enjoyed a long page by doggies_will_rule Peace Out!!

Aged Kyolic Garlic is the only one I have found that works. It comes in both pill and liquid form. You put a dropperful in their fresh water daily and it does a great job repelling fleas. Brewers yeast does not work. You can get the garlic at a health food store or GNC it's around $10

I don't know where the usage of yeast came from , I doubt that is a good idea. The garlic method goes way back , but used moderately in the food daily is all , like the amount you would add to butter for one slice of bread, just a little , but it has to be consistent , if you do get fleas your house has to be treated and yard
other wise it's a never ending battle. I believe the drops are a better solution, the first time you spot them you have to be aggressive just as you would lice on a kid to prevent infestation.
I learned of something else the other day which surprised me and I am surprised I never knew but that chocolate is very bad for dogs that it can be poisonous to a dog and in some instances lethal.

Whether this works or not (I'd never heard of this treatment until I read your question), please think of your dog, and of yourself and family before experimenting.
Garlic is a really pungent odour and every body in the vicinity of your dog will be assailed by the smell. The odour will cling to everything your dog contacts - and a stale garlic smell can be quite nauseating, too.
Your poor dog, with its supersensitive sense of smell, will be constantly assaulted by the odour with no means of escape.
Why not go to your vet and ask advice, or, failing that, use one of the very effective flea treatments on the market today? And you could also shampoo your dog more frequently until the infestation subsides.
But what ever you do, I hope your dog will soon be clear.

just a little garlic on thier food once a day, it gets into the blood stream and the fleas and ticks don't like it and won't hang around. The dogs (works for cats too) don't mind the taste and it protects them from vampires also!

Don't waste your time,it doesn't work,and neither does Skin-So -Soft. Frontline,Advantage,or Bio-Spot are your best bets.
