Yes Islam has given a higher right of women than before.In jahiliyah era,a new born girl baby was burried lively.Islam prohibi-
tes its followers to do that.Islam appreciates women higher than men in a family.If mother and father call for help to her/his child,ythe kid should first serve his/her mother and then his/her father after that.Women in Islamic teaching has a similar rights with men.although physically are not the same.Husband has an obligation to eke out income for the family and wife should caring their kids and give the first education at home to the kids.A woman can not be left alone miserily if husband divorced her..Women have a right to receive heir from their parents. and women have a right to receive a wedding present.from their husbands.

yes! women have more rights in Islam than any other religion.
Muslim women can:
- Choose who they want to marry and CANNOT be forced to marry
- Can work outside the house
- Has rights over her husband like the right to a good home and provisions.
-right to education
-freedom of speech

actually they have more rights than men. its is the religious duty of men to look after the women. so its more like men are the slaves of women and not vice versa cause if a woman wants to, she can very well go and get herself a job. but by islamic law, a husband HAS to provide for his wife and family, a duty that he will be held accountable for after death. And a little known fact: In Islam, the men have to give the dowry to the women. And the woman can ask for it anytime and it is completely hers. Even any money she earns when she works is completely hers and her husband has no say over it.

So actually Muslim men are very afraid of women as their women are their 'trusts' from God. They are religiously obliged to treat them well or face the consequences. If i was a Muslim guy, I'd be very afraid ^.^

If you call that "Rights" I'd hate to see the rest. Mohommedanism has the world's worst reputation for female oppression and cruelty.
The only reason you say that it gives them rights is because some parts of the koran say so. That's not what happens in practice - as with the rest of the book. Pity really because mohommed spent so much of his lifetime making it all up for you all.
