As any cat owner will tell you, bugs are the very best toys your cat could ever ask for! We have a house-full of inside-only kitties who go stark-raving NUTS when a fly gets in the house .... you should see them go LEAPING and CHASING and CRASHING around the house .... all trying to catch a fly! Moths are also a great attraction, too. I am sure that if my cats could get a larger variety of bugs, they would eat a larger variety of bugs.
That being said, don't be surprised if your cat sometimes barfs up the buggly wugglies that it eats ... that can happen, too.
If you know your cat is a bug-eater, please use extra caution in what sort of pesticides that you use around your home and garden... many can be toxic to cats. The safest way to kill bugs in a non-toxic way is to either (a) squoosh 'em with your shoe; or (b) let your cat eat them!
Does your cat play with the empty snail shells after eating the innards, or does he eat the whole snail with a CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH?? Ewwwwwww... I know that escargot is considered a delicacy .... but I think I would need a LOT of garlic butter (and wine) before I would ever try that.
Purrrrrrr (burp)

Yes, that's completely normal-my little cat stalks any bug who dares enter her house..until she catches it, plays with it, then finally chomps it down. Cats are hunters and will usually try to hunt anything that moves..bugs are pretty much harmless-unless they are from an area outside that has been sprayed with a chemical..Be careful about that.

Cats have the natural instinct to hunt and to stalk. Stalking generally is not a sign of hunger. Rather, they stalk prey out of curiosity or because they simply need to add a little excitement to their lives. Hunting and stalking also helps the cat get a little exercise and provides a release for pent up energy

considered one of my cats stopped ingesting and ingesting and if she did consume or drink, she threw it back up lower back presently afterwards. grew to become out she had a blocked gut (simply by extreme nutrition intolerences - i've got considering found out she's allergic to fairly lots all nutrition yet it extremely is a diverse tale) . She mandatory fairly some diverse meds and that i even had to furnish her enemas at dwelling house (!!!) to assist shift the blockage. as quickly as she had handed the blockage, (undesirable little mite, it extremely harm her whilst she did) her urge for nutrition back to familiar interior of a pair of days. Cats (and canines) will in many situations salivate plenty in the event that they have have been given something caught of their throat yet not if that's gotten down previous the tummy already.

Most cats do this. They love to chase and eat bugs. unfortunately this can cause a cat to get worms. Even if they eat a flea this can happen, but I sure don't know how to stop them.

Like the other two answers before me, it's perfectly normal. Cats are natural hunters, and -- to be blunt -- they'll eat anything that can't eat them.....lol. Don't worry about it. Your cat is just being a cat. It's absolutely natural.

Thats what they are made for. Egyptians kept them for that purpose for the tome areas and their homes and they were praised for it. they will also put it at the front door, like a present.....birds for mine b/c they want you to know they are doing a good job...its their instinct from years and years ago. he is keeping your bug problem down and well also, it moves and its little...play time somewhat. THEY ALSO KEEP EVIL SPIRITS AWAY IS THE LEGEND! CATS CAN SEE THINGS WE CAN'T SUCH AS SPIRITS, GHOST OR WHATEVER ....

I don't know if it's normal, but my three year old neutered Tabby eats bugs often also, and it asn't harmed him any (though he occasionally consumes one too quickly and throws it up).

As they are hunters yes it is natural for them to hunt and catch prey. The question is are what they catching and eating good or safe for them to eat.
They don't know until they catch something and it makes them sick.
