If you go to paulawhite.org.. in the product section, there is a book called.. fasting made simple..

It is an awesome book and not expensive that details the importance of fasting. I myself have not been able to fast a complete fast yet, but I am learning.

But fasting for God isn't about how long can you go without.. it's what will you go without for Him...

I myself am on a Diet Soda (all soda actually) fast. Haven't touched it in almost two months!

Water fast are probably the most difficult that I have seen in the church.. Juice fasts, you must be careful because you can hurt your body and that isnt good.

Hugs

In Islamic teaching fasting during ramadhan is an obligation from Allah the only one God as spoken in our holy Qur'an.Fasting for muslims and muslimas is not only about water fasting .Fasting
since before dawn up to sunset(about 14 hours) is prohibited to :
1)eat foods and meals and snack in whatever its form
2)drink water and other kind of drink such as juice, milk, coca cola ,vocary sweat, tea, coffee etc
3)physical intercourse or masturbate or adultery and kissing with lust
4)tell a lie and bad doing of others and slandering, deceiving,co
nceiting,,dishonest,stealing,killing etc
5)vomit intentionaly and smoking
In fasting we surrender to Allah and we will get rewards from Allah in the form of grace, forgiveness and free from hell fire punishment. After sunset it is about 6.00 PM we break our fasting with sweet meals and ordinary food for dinner and drink fresh water. After that we pray for maghrib. At 7.00 PM we pray for Isya and then continued with taraweh praying in 11 bows
Other benefit by fasting we will be healthier and some diseases will be cured .According to our holy Qur'an fasting is obliged also to Abraham prophet and his followers,to Jewish(Moses and his followers) and to Christians.(Jesus and his followers)
