YES, you should dispute everything, even the stuff that is yours. Ive looked at thousands of credit reports, and have personally seen the benifits of this. Dont pay some agency to do it for you, just get a copy of your report, and mail a dispute form to each credit agency for each dispute (you can find generic credit dispute forms online). Make sure to dispute each incident on a seperate form. You will then get a response back in around 30 days, the agency has to re verify each "bad mark" and if they cant they must remove it. Your score can jump quite a bit in a very short time. Good luck.

It doesn't take months for changes to appear. It's actually faster then people think. I pulled all 3 credit bureaus on Sept. 5, wrote letters to each disputing things that I know to be wrong, also things that I know are mine. If it is a collection and you've paid it then the account should be closed. I found 2 collection accounts that were still being listed as open. Anyway I did my own experiment, i got my credit score from Transunion on the same day 498. Yesterday I got a response from transunion, they deleted 3 items and updated 2 others. I got my score again last night and it went up 57 points. Hasn't even been a month. They are still investigating some other things and will let me know when they've finished. Do this on your own first, you may be able to fix the problem. Go to the post office get 10 long stamped envelopes and use them to mail your dispute letters, also keep copies. Once you've got your responses, then you can take the next step and maybe start to pay some of the accounts that still exist. I've also gotten responses from the other bureaus but I don't know how those scores have been affected. ?Good Luck.

If you want to build a house in 8 months you need to resolve these things immediately. You should NOT dispute UNPAID derogatory items that are yours. Dispute those charges which DO NOT belong to you through ALL THREE bureaus, as well as the actual credit grantor.
A Charge off hurts WORSE than a late payment or collection. It means that the creditor gave up completely with you and took the tax write off (which is just a percentage of what you owed.)
Contact ALL your delinquent accoutns immediately and figure out what you can do to straighten out the problems. Dispute all the old PAID stuff, like collections.

You should scounge up as much money as is possible and send a pay-for-deletion letter CERTIFIED to the creditors in question.
Please note: They will only seriously consider this letter if you have some serious cash to pay off these debts.
Make sure they accept the terms of the pay-for-deletion letter BEFORE you remit any monies; make sure that acceptance is in writing ON COMPANY LETTERHEAD, and that it is signed by an person of appropriate authority at the collection agency. Then, remit them the funds and make sure the charge-offs are removed from your credit report as agreed.
Voila! You have a new lease on life.
This is doable within an 8 month period.
GO FOR IT!

Hi ,
you can go to any Broker Company who does Home Loans and they can give you a credit dispute form. Fill it out and send it to all three of the credit services who show this on your report . Show them proof that it was paid off . Or dispute it is not yours. They have up to 30 days I believe to prove it or they must remove it. I do this for my clients all the time . I do Home Loans and to get someone FICA's score up. We will send dispute letters out . Sometimes it works and the Credit reporting agencies can't find the origination of the trade line ...( Meaning it gets removed )

You have the right to dispute, but it takes several months for the changes to appear on your credit report file. A dispute I made in Jan2006 has not yet been resolved as the subscriber has not replied to the credit refernce agency.
The matter was .......
One fine day I find that some lendor has made a check on me, where I do not know this lendor nor have I made any credit application with them also my name was spelt differently eg i am Mathew but the search was for a Mattew
