Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I've never seen proof god exists, but I've also never seen proof that he does not.

Sorry, it's not a matter of faith. It's a matter of reason. Ther's no evidence that god exists or doesn't exist do why assume he does?
The atheist says that with no evidence for the existence of god, why believe in its existence?
Do you believe in the existence of everything that can't be demonstrated?

The atheist will accept the existence of God if it's ever demonstrated to be correct. What we want is knowledge or doubt. Belief implies intellectual laziness.

How can I be sure that you are not a pedophile or a murderer?

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. I've never seen proof that you're a criminal, but I've also never seen proof that you are not.

What? You don't like that argument? Too bad. If "true until proven false" is good enough for your "god", then it should be good enough for you. Or do you only _claim_ to "walk with jeebus" and not actually do it?

"Innocent until proven guilty" is "false until proven true". We don't convict until we have proof. It is up to those making the claim to prove that something *did* happen (a FINITE thing) and not for those who refute it to prove that something *did not* happen (an INFINITE thing).

In the same way that you don't have to prove your innocence, I don't have to prove there is no "god". The mythical "god" does not exist until _you_ prove that one does. If you want different burdens of proof when you are accused of a crime and when you want atheists to prove "no god", then you're a _hypochristian_: a hypocritical christian.

Finally, take note, in case you couldn't grasp the concept by yourself:

For you to admit that you can't prove "god" exists DOES NOT mean that you can't continue to believe it. (There wasn't enough evidence to convict OJ Simpson. Does that mean he wasn't guilty?)

The atheist refutation of "god" doesn't trod on your right to believe, so don't claim that it does. All that atheists seek is to prevent religion being forced onto people who don't want it, which *IS* something most hypochristians are after.

In the 2000 years since Jesus Christ died and was allegedly resurrected, there has not been a single verifiable account of God or Jesus manifesting themselves to a human being.

By verifiable, I mean that there is no actual evidence, other than anecdotal, that such a manifestation has occurred.

There are 37 "messiahs" from various faiths throughout history. Many of them performed greater miracles than Christ. 17 of them were crucified AND resurrected, just like Jesus. This suggests that Jesus was not all that unique in the savior business, since he was simply the last of these 17. He's actually something of a "Johnny come lately."

Archaeological records aside, the historical record shows that the first 5 books of the Bible are filled to the brim with ideas and concepts of a singular god which are derived from older sources. Jehovah, or Yahweh, is an amalgamation of gods from other bronze-age cultures. Just as Christians stole concepts and practices from the pagans and Jews, the Jews stole them from other cultures, who stole them from yet other cultures.

The evidence shows that God is a construct of man. There is absolutely no evidence, none, zip, nada, that man is a construct of God. Choosing to lend a blind eye to existing evidence no more makes God real, than refusing to tie a stick to a horses head makes unicorns real.

I don't know how they are sure of that. But the existence of god is really a necessity, to explain our existence. Because you should follow our origins to the Big-Bang as the theories told. What happen to star that?, It just be there and then BLAST? The same thing past is you go by the line of god, how he exists? OK he make all the things, but how is he coming god? That's very good questions, and i think they should never get answers.
So why bother with that, if you think that god exists, so he will and if you don't think that it is correct. Because as you said there are no definitive proofs of any of the two statements.

And absence of evidence is not proof of existence.
I am more powerful than God and challenge him to 12 rounds in the ring. You can be the referee. Call me after he's weighed in.

Um, how about the fact that humans created him. King Hezekiah commissioned the Torah (Old Testament) to be written from Hebrew folklore about a guy named Moses (familiar?) so he could convert the pagans to monotheism and regain control of the people and their money (BTW, don't forget to give your 10% on Sunday). Flash forward to around 300 A.D.; Emperor Constantine commissioned the New Testament to be written, but ran short of material, so the story of Krishna was borrowed upon almost exclusively for the Gospels. That's right, kids; Jesus was made up so some Roman Emperor could control . . .

Was it jelly beans . . .?
Nope

WAIT! Money and power of the people. That's it!

See a pattern forming. This is all archaeologically verifiable, 100% bonafide truth. That, hon, is where your God comes from. Wash, rinse and repeat for any religion. Want money and power? Make a new religion!

Disbelief is the default position-it requires no proof. The only people who need to supply evidence are those making a proposition-e.g. "I believe in a God which can't be seen or touched" or "there definitely is no God". The onus is either on the believer or the positive atheist to provide proof not on disbelievers.

If some soul desires to live in an illusion that there is no God, God gives all facility to them by sending books proving that there is no God, sending people saying that there is no God and allowing them to be in all respects sure that there is no God. God does not interfere with the little independence of the living being. Although we are all originally meant to love God, we have free choice to leave Him and forget Him also.

it's a matter of faith actually. Even though atheists say they don't believe in God, they do actually have faith in something,,, they have faith that he does NOT exist. Just as those who believe in God have faith that he DOES exist. Not too many people in this world can say they have evidence either way, we just blindly go on faith, or what our gut tells us to be the truth. There have been many studies stating that we, as a human race, need to believe in something bigger than ourselves to exist. Whether that be God, Alah, Satan, whatever it is the person believes in. People don't want to believe that the buck stops with us !!!

Nut B: I never said that atheists BELIEVE in anything nor did I mention Agnostics... the question is not how can I prove there is a God it is How can anyone prove either way.. what I did say was that atheists had faith in the fact there is NO God.. below is a definition of faith.. note in particular definition #2.. also just for info I included the definition of Atheist and agnostic...

faith:

–noun 1. confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability.
2. belief that is not based on proof: He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.
3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion: the firm faith of the Pilgrims.
4. belief in anything, as a code of ethics, standards of merit, etc.: to be of the same faith with someone concerning honesty.
5. a system of religious belief: the Christian faith; the Jewish faith.
6. the obligation of loyalty or fidelity to a person, promise, engagement, etc.: Failure to appear would be breaking faith.
7. the observance of this obligation; fidelity to one's promise, oath, allegiance, etc.: He was the only one who proved his faith during our recent troubles.
8. Christian Theology. the trust in God and in His promises as made through Christ and the Scriptures by which humans are justified or saved.

atheist:
–noun a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.
—Synonyms Atheist, agnostic, infidel, skeptic refer to persons not inclined toward religious belief or a particular form of religious belief. An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings. Infidel means an unbeliever, especially a nonbeliever in Islam or Christianity. A skeptic doubts and is critical of all accepted doctrines and creeds.
