Smile.

It's sometimes harder to do the simple things in life the older we get. It may seem simple to say hello to a neighbor, but it's all those little things that we neglect in times of stress that make us want to turn to all the more complicated solutions that have long, new and improved generic names. Don't get me wrong, I will use those meds if I am really feeling unwell, but luckily these days, the simple things are getting a little easier.

It might also be that "tension" may not be the right name for what you think you are mentally ill with. You might be best off seeing a therapist who might be able to put a diagnosis to your neuroticism and fit you with a more suitable drug than an anonymous person who has never met you can list.

Good luck with what ails you.

hi
i had a nervous breakdown a few years ago , anxiety disorder being a major factor , so i hope this helps

1) the smokes are no good , try to get rid of them , even if it takes patch therapy
(chew on a toothpick for the having somthing in your mouth - hand thingy ), even though they seem to relax you , the nicotine actually pumps you up , like caffiene its an upper

2)talk to your doctor about efexor , it's an antianxiety/antidepressant med . i dont worry much at all nowadays

3) find a good counsellor (your doctor may be a help )/ trusted friend you can talk too to get you started & over the hump

trust me , it will get better - tell yourself when a stressy moment comes that it will pass soon with time& you will be OK
I know it's hard , it took me months toget the hang of it .
best wishes
cheers:
paul :-}

Beth, Hope this doesn't sound to crazy because it is true. Your headaches come from the muscles in your neck being tight. The pain is so intense from them that when their message reaches the brain all it feels is pain, so we call it a headache. You have muscles in your neck pulling on other muscles, a chain reaction type of thing, to cause the extra pain you are feeling. You can get rid of those tight muscles by doing this, which takes less than a minute, to find out if it's true or not: Neck Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Develop and gain the habits of being strong, confident, and self-reliant.

Involve yourself in public speaking, mingling with people, and ascertain your presence in all gatherings.

Be More Extrovert than Introvert.

Try to see men as Men, and ladies as LADIES, instead of just as SEX objects.

Try to control your smoking / drinking / drug habits, if you have any. Too Much Excess of anything will just ruin you whole.

Even breathing exercises and little yoga (from proper instructors / guides), or sincere prayer may help you.

Always SMILE, and pass on the smile on others faces.

Xanax is very good. But can be very addicting. Valium is also OK. For non-controlled meds..Amitriptyline HCL, Zoloft, Maybe Abilfy? this is one that has to be mont. closely, Sinequan, to name a few.

There a really about a 100,200 meds or more to tinker around with in this range you are inquiring about. The best and safest bet is of course to check with your doctor; you will have to get the Rx from him or her anyway. Good luck.

Yes. See your doctor. Ativan helps tension, but you should only take it at night. There are also certain anti-depressants that help with tension.

Yes. They can be addictive if not taken as directed or for too long. Valium is one of the best also there is ativan & zanax. I'm sure a whole bunch more but that's the ones I have tried. I wish you well.

The best thing to do is change something in your life that will be a sure thing to relax you. Quit smoking and take up jogging and walking. You might want to buy yourself a good bike and go mountian biking.
