It means that the Internet is separating people from getting together.Television was blamed to separate people from forming personal relationships when it arrived as we would stay glue to it and watch program es rather than interacting among each other.
similarly Internet has also forged a gap in terms of personal and social relationships.

Where television used to be the only source of entertainment keeping people occupied in their seats for hours upon hours, the internet is now the main source of entertainment for some people, especially younger individuals. Some people would rather spend hours upon hours on the internet than to get out and live life, interact with people, and have fun. Also, people would rather email or chat through an IM than have an actual conversation face to face.

The Internet is addictive. People will spend more time with their friends on the Internet than actually forging real friendships with real people. It makes us introverted.

it means that it destroyes the unity of the community, and the relations between people, like me for example, i stay 11 hours a day online, just talking to total strangers, isn't that a waste of time?

it means that the internet and technology takes us away from regular human emotions because instead of visiting someone or writing them we are now emailing or texting messages. it is saying that we are no longer in touch because we are too rapped up on the internet. like instead of me studying for my exam ( which i should be doing) i am answering questions on the internet.lol
