check with your doctor about getting put on another allergy medication. i too suffer from severe allergies and asthma. i was taking claritin but had to switch b/c it wasn't working. i now take allegra-d. it works great. i also take advair 50/250 twice a day. it's an inhaler you use everyday to reduce the side effects of asthma-it works really good-i hardly wheeze anymore and haven't had to use my rescue inhaler in months....

keep the house as dust and dirt free as possible. spray down your couches and linens with febreeze with allergy reducer-this helps in my house.

best thing though is to check with your doc about the asthma and allergy meds-they will be the best source to relieving your suffering...

Many old houses have mold in the walls that you can't see. It's a terrible problem. You should pay about $75 and have someone test the walls for any mold. If there is mold, ask them the severity and the best way to get rid of it.

Also most air purifiers are very worthless. they dont' have the motor to actually clean much air.

Also beware of the ionic breeze, and other so called air purifiers. They actually produce ozone, that if you have asthma, can make your asthma worse. Most asthmatics worse breathing times are between 3-7 a.m. because the medicine is at it's lowest levels in the blood stream. That means if your using a ozone producer, your making your breathing worse when you sleep.

The only true air cleaner is a hepa filtered cleaner; some air purifiers are pretty expensive so Hepa filters may be worth it.

Also, put hepa filters/screens in your furnace if you have central heating or air conditioning. this will greatly help.

I hope things go well for you.

if you are having so many health issues because of that house you might have mold. I've never had any allergic problems anywhere except for the office in which I used to work. after a while they found out that there was mold between the drywall. they even quarantined the office until they got it fixed.
you might be able to buy air filters but if you don't figure out which is the source of all that stuff then you won't be doing much.

Need to have house checked for mold.... also try dehumidefier or if the house seems dry try a humidifier.... sounds more like you possibly may have mold in the house wich can be gotten rid of but can be expensive....

You need to have allergy testing to determine what you are allergic to and to get perscription medications. You might also put a mattress cover on your mattress

it may just be the change in climate, but it might be someone had a cat, dog, bird (if you're allergic to feathers), installed new carpet.. try taking benedryl (antihistimines) to reduce the discomfort or change to Claritin D.
