the only way is to keep them apart.. Scotties have many hereditary diseases/problems, and shouldn't be bred to a daughter..
You can board the male in a boarding kennel, or keep them in separate rooms the entire time..You would have a 50% higher chance of the puppies inheriting these problems..From bleeding disorders to joint disorders to autoimmune diseases to allergies and skin conditions, Scottish Terriers are risky in the health department.

I breed shepherds, and when a female is in heat it is a full time job making sure she doesn't get pregnant. I never breed father to daughter, mother to son, or siblings, and I never breed a male or female that isn't over 2 years of age. Plus I never let a female have more than two, in some case three pregnancies in her life. It is not something that is done spur of the moment, it takes lots of time and money to make sure you are working towards quality animals. Since I mainly breed for K9 or service animals, it is important the animal be highly reliable and trainable. The most responsible thing and the kindest for the dogs since you don't want to neuter the male, spay the female. Yes, you will probably need a crate during this heat cycle.

Hi Sand, They say,you can breed the father to the daughter, and not to breed mother, and son,but some people do anyway.I have never in breed, and i plan never to do in breeding. This weakens the blood lines of the dogs. You could end up with a deform pup,or alot of stupid puppy. Some people just don't give a damn,They look at it, as a fast way to make money. To stop your scotty from getting his daughter prengant, lock this daughter up in the garage with lots of fresh water, and warm bedding.THE female has 3 cycles to go through= 1-coming into season. 2-ready to mate. 3-going out of season. The whole thing will take 21 days. You may want to get the female fix, after she is done with her cycles. That way you don't have to worry about this again. A Dog Lover...

You can't stop nature. Dogs don't realize they are related. Good luck finding homes for the puppies because there will be puppies. If you don't get either the boy or the girl fixed you can count on this happening several times a year. Puppies, puppies & more puppies!
Spayed/neutered pets are healthier & live longer by the way.

Nothing. It take more inbreeding to make a difference ( generations of mating ) Unlike humans. Thy do have dogie diapers for males. And keep her away from him when she is in heat, a separate room & closae the door if you cant be around to stop him.

You get puppies. It happpens all the time, but inbreeding is bad from a mental and psychological standpoint.
You've three choices:
1) Spay her
2) Neuter him
3) Ditch a diog

It's like a father and daughter having a baby? I wouldn't encourage, would even discourage that behavior. I wouldn't own a dog that wasn't spayed or neutered.

Why are you even asking such a silly question?Call the vet and have both dogs fixed. There are too many unwanted dogs as it is.Please don't add to the tragedy of pet overpopulation, especially with inbred, sickly puppies.

You really should get one of them fixed. If you don’t you are more likely going to end up with puppies. They could end up being fine, but they could also end up being metnal retard or have many other issues. This is why so many purebreds having issues due too multiply interbreeding and why Mutts are general healthier and live longer because their genes are more spread out.

sure, they're going to. to boot, any male kits will attempt to mate with the mum and their sisters whilst they are older. Separate the daddy now. as quickly as the kits are older, you are able to shop any women with the mum (presented there is not any aggression), and separate the lads. The men would or won't be waiting to be housed with the daddy. in case you prefer to homestead them collectively, get the lads neutered. even nonetheless, men are lots extra probable to be aggressive in the direction of one yet another whilst there are women close by.
