Maybe persecution is too harsh of a word...i know that others in the world are persecuted MUCH more than American Christians, or others, and I pray that they are saved from that persecution. I just asked this ? out of curiosity... I am a Christian, but I havent faced much of it, besides jokes about it (someone once asked me to speak in tongues during a 9th grade civics class-of course i said no!)

I dont think that this ? is dumb at all. A lot of people talk about how they are made fun of for their faith.

Not persecuted. I have been mocked, scorned, looked down upon, cursed at, accused of things I did not do and do not believe, and that sort of thing...but not persecuted.

We're protected by the First Amendment in the U.S. insofar as citizens and the government respect the Constitution, but that doesn't mean that there aren't other actions or attitudes we could be subjected to by others that we assume are persecution. But I don't think Christians in most developed countries have been persecuted ENOUGH--we've had no real challenges to our faith, so we've become very spiritually flabby. We don't know what we believe because we don't spend the time that we should in prayer and study of the Bible. We're Christians in name only. We don't know Christ as we should because we haven't spent the time with Him that we should be spending with our best friend. What Christians in the U.S. and other Western nations think is persecution is often nothing more than a loud difference of public opinion. We won't know what real persecution is until we're denied jobs, houses and other things we take for granted.

Thank God I have never felt persecuted here and I am a Muslim one exception though is yahoo answers. I read the Yahoo and how much they hate Muslims and in my mind I am thinking how hypocritical are these people but when I go out and people are all nice then I forget about Yahoo HATE.
This question by the way is almost dumb.

Let's see. As the resident homo here on R&S, I've wore this question out. I don't know a christian in North America that can lay claim to persecution. But I know plenty of christians who can dish out the persecution. I have to say that it makes me more than a little angry when I hear these people claim that petty slights are persecution.
When they start imprisoning you for Christianity, then you claim persecution. Until then, we homo's have the market cornered in the US.

No, most people I come in contact with, with the exception of Yahoo answers, are believers, I once dated a fellow that was neither a believer nor a non-believer he was just the see to believe type, he called me one day when his first son was born and thanked me for opening his eyes to Christianity and helping him believe...

You know what Smarti who cares what other people think or what they say, I know that's hard, but believe what you want to believe and believe in yourself. People can say all they want who cares, if you really love God what does that matter. Look what he did for us, he gave his life for us for our sins, so we would sin no more that clearly means, he would always forgive us of our sins if we ask it and mean it in his name." All things are posible, but through me," he said. I would say for me NO, how can anyone person do that to me? I'll tell you how they can't because you don't let them it's that simple. God never gave up on you or anyone else, why should we? No-one and I mean No-One can take away your faith. They can make fun of you, but they can't make you lose your faith for what you believe in.Anyone can know God if they want and choose to or not, but that's why God made free will for us to think and choose the way we want to live our lives, and why not do that for the Lord thy God. To the Question of the other guy I let my kids choose thier own beliefs, but they chose christian, and why does it matter what you are? God loves us no matter what, so we should love him no matter what. He didn't question us, so why should we question him.Read your bible dear.Remeber free will to choose your own religion and beliefs, the only thing God cares about is that he loves you, wants you healthy, and to know him as your Lord and savior. To do this just believe and say the sinners prayer. And someone else was wrong to earlier, sorry, but remember do not bare false witness, mock others, make fun of, or curse to or about others for that is judging. Jesus said, "Judge not, least ye shall be judged." A very hard concept for most, myself included, but working on it. God bless you smarti and everyone else I truly mean that I hope everyone gets the answers they need, remember not all questions can be answered either not on earth anyway.

Some, but as you say, other countries are quite a bit worse right now. Our time is coming, however. Keep praying for all of us and we will for you as well.
