Clearly they do the BUTT X-RAY

It sort of depends on the type of injuries you have sustained.

If you have had the chair yanked away from under you when you are sitting down, then many doctors would NOT x-ray your butt.

However, if you have been in a car accident or a motorcycle accident where there have been high speeds and the possibility of serious injury exists, particularly if you have sore hips/pelvis you should score a PELVIC X-RAY which is done with the usual x-ray machine - the same one that takes your chest x-ray and neck x-rays.

Other types of x-rays to look at the area include x-rays of the sacrum or lumbar spine.

Other ways to look at the area without xrays include:

CT scan (cat scan - computed axial tomography)
MRI scan (magnetic resonance imaging)
bone scan (radio-isotope scan)

There are no bones in the buttocks so no radiology is done. To rule out injury to the pelvis, a pelvic X-ray is done. The same equipment is used for all X-rays - facial, hand, chest, abdominal, etc. The patient is positioned so that desired body part is on top of the film cassette and the equipment arranged so that it is focused over the part of the body to be filmed.
