Did you know that a great number of Christians in America (including the Amish and Mennonite community) are against going to war but they are also against votes and polling....

Imagine how much peace in America is unaccounted for because secular Christian/Republicans take the spot light in the media!

Matthew 5:38-48; John 18:36; Romans 12:18-21; and I Corinthians 6:18

Are you an Anti-war Christian?

I'm certainly not saying that all Christians feel this way - I know better...
But just imagine how many unheard voices there are on this matter.
And the thing about Jesus advocation of "laying one's life" is an act of NON-violence as I understand it... it says giving your life.....not taking someone elses.... there's a difference...
But I know that my view on that is not very popular with folks who find it easier not to argue against the administration.... sheep following the wrong shepards if u ask me...

Didn't Jesus tell us to love our enemies? How can we do that if we are trying to kill them because some old men in the seat of government tell us to? Jesus said love would be one of the identifying marks of true Christianity.

I am a conservative Christian. There has been a concept in Christianity almost since its beginning that there are "just" wars. Jesus said that the greatest love that a person could show is to lay down his life for other people. If a people group is powerless and is being oppressed and killed, than a Christian should be willing to lay down his life to help save those people (I'm talking physically). This gets a little subjective in application, obviously. Jesus couldn't have been totally anti-war because one of his parables involves two kings who were evaluating whether they should go to war against each other.

I just want to add based on your added comments -- if some madman is holding a bunch of innocent schoolgirls hostage and is going to molest them and kill them -- you're saying that a Christian should not go in to kill that guy to prevent the greater evil that will be perpetrated on those kids? If some madman gets control of a country and wants to incinerate in ovens everyone who is not from his race -- that Christians should not fight to prevent the greater evil? That does not make sense to me and I don't believe that if Christians risk their lives fighting such evil that Jesus will condemn them.

Yes, I am a Christian Jehovah's Witness and Jesus said that we should learn war no more so we all abstain from it even though some of us are killed for doing so. We also do not vote because our king (Christ Jesus) is already on the throne. We would never vote against the most perfect ruler. Not sure what you mean by polling.

why would Christians be against War? If it is necessary, then I'm there dude. God and His angels had a great war themselves once (against the devil) violence, not so much. When you say violence in a sentence that already has war listed you are speaking about the good old fashion kind. Men hitting women, children shooting children, etc. when people who aren't trying to kill a nation are being hurt, I don't like that kind of violence. Everything else is necessary.

I believe in war if it is needed...in defense. There was war in the Bible, so we can't say that it is not totally Biblical. And God gave men like David the power to defend themselves. If in defense, yes.
