I love beagles, but I have terrible asthma and allergies. I plan on going to get allergy shots, and after receiving those for awhile, I hope to get a beagle puppy. Does anyone know if Beagles are ok dogs for people with asthma?

If your allergies include dog dander, the beagle wouldn't be the best choice..
Hypoallergenic dog breeds are those touted as being hypoallergenic; that is, provoking fewer allergic reactions in allergy sufferers.

There are various coat types that are said to produce fewer allergens: single-coated dogs, who do not have a thick undercoat; dogs whose coat continues to grow, like human hair, rather than shedding regularly; and hairless dogs. These breeds usually shed less dander and hair and are, therefore, considered hypoallergenic. However, even hairless dogs can produce enough dander to affect a highly allergic person.

List of hypoallergenic breeds

* Afghan Hound
* Basenji
* Bedlington Terrier
* Bichon (all types)
* Bichon Frisé

* Greyhound
* Havanese
* Irish Water Spaniel
* Italian Greyhound
* Kerry Blue Terrier

* Poodle hybrids
* Portuguese Water Dog
* Schnauzer (all sizes)
* Shih Tzu
* Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier
* Yorkshire Terrier
* Whippet
* Native American Indian Dog

i have asthma and i'm a dog groomer. i'm around dogs all day. as you know asthma can be triggered by stress chemicals smells allergies ANYTHING!! the only thing i'd worry about with the beagle is because you have asthma you may be prone to animal allergies. and to clear up any misconceptions THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HYPOALLERGENIC DOG!!!!! THEY DO NOT EXIST!!! every dog has dander and that's what your allergic to. just a bit of info shihtzu's poodles anything 'hypo' is NOT 100 PC sure/ they are a bit better because they are a single coated dog not a double so they are easier on people with asthma and allergies but they still affect allergies. but back to the asthma thing. no there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get a beagle but if your getting from a GOOD breeder make sure you can see the mother and pictures of the father and interact with the mother. if the breeder says she's 'protective' and will bite walk away. if the female isn't properly socialized she'll be aggressive and that trait can pass on to the pups. if it's an 'oops' litter make sure you can take it on a trial basis. breeder shelter or anything really. explain the situation and and good breeder or shelter will understand and say yay or nay. if the breeder says well if you take there's no returning it walk away and report them to the local spca because chances are they're only in it for the money and could be a backyard breeder aka puppy mill. but again dont' see any problems.. just be prepared for a LOT of noise and typically beagles are horrible *you do get good ones* for grooming. bath nails ears i've seen more rotten dogs then good. but it's up to you just make sure if the dog does bother your asthma and you find out you have allergies that you can bring it back.

I have asthma and had two of the best beagles ever-RIP-(old age).Just keep the dogs bathed once a week with a mild shampoo,and feed a quality dog food to cut down on dander,and you will have the best dogs ever.Of course make sure you take your meds regularly,and don't let the dog sleep in your bed(although I did).Wipe the dog down every day with baby wipes to remove dander and,during spring and summer,to remove pollen from it's coat after it's been outside.Good luck with your sweet little beagle!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7Kg

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.
