It depends on how far out of your timezone you're going. If you have time, try to adjust your sleep schedule slightly every night. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water as well.
Before you fly have the following:
1. Dramamine )or an equivalent
2. Black sleep mask (you can get them at the drugstore too)
3. Earplugs (also available at drugstore)
When you board the plane, be sure to grab at least three pillows and a blanket. They get snatched up quickly!
Keep your watch on your time. 30 minutes before you would be going to sleep take your Dramamine, place a pillow behind your lower back, one behind your neck and the other can be placed where it makes you most comfortable. Put on your sleep mask, insert your ear plugs and you'll be set!

Drink various basic water - the synthetic environment of a pressurised cabin dehydrates you, besides because of the fact the stress of traveling so a ways. Arrive properly hydrated (alcohol dehydrates you so have not got any throughout the time of the flight, or perhaps for possibly 24 hours earlier you depart) and probably get some sleep on your flight in case you may. If it is an prolonged flight - which i've got by no skill experienced yet yet in all probability will as dad is shifting to New Zealand in a pair of weeks : ( - then various interpreting, or listening to music or audio books on your headphones. Have a solid trip.
