The U.S. has no intentions to leave. They are building at least 6 permanent military bases there.

Realist, you're a ignorant fool. Oi, you're kidding me right? Last time I checked, Vietnam was a communist country run by a dictator that didn't let the capitalist pigs into the country. As for bases in other places, do you see U.S. Troops in Somalia? The reason why we have bases in Germany, Japan, Korea, Spain, and Italy, is because they ask us to be there. We've closed down damn near every base in Germany. You realize that the Berlin Wall wasn't officially dismantled until 1990 right? That means the Russian side's economy was shite, who do you think took the brunt of that? We actually have cut back the amount of troops in South Korea drastically. Hell, there is enough that if Kim Jong Il attacked South Korea would be under his control in about 3 days. Wanna try me? Didn't think so...things take time, it may seem a long time to you, but for the world, your life is but an instant. Stuff doesn't happen that quickly. Gotta have it NOW, doesn't work here.

While your question's are valid, the inference is not entirely true!
Germany is a sovereign nation over which we have to control. Germany received her sovereignty when the wall came down and the four powers sign the agreement. USA is there as part of NATO forces and cannot remain there without the approval of the German Government!
I do not believe that we have any troops stationed in Vietnam.
The war in Korea is still on going. Only a ease fire was signed and agreed upon. This involved China, North Korea and South Korea.
We should not be in Iraq, and we should have SMASHED Afghanistan years ago.
Soldiers are being killed because too many people, sitting in the safety and comfort of their TV chair think that war should be fair, sweet, kind and nice! Worse, they want to say how to fight it but they have never been shot at or carried a weapon!
America should NEVER go to WAR! But if we have to, we should take them ALL out, Dogs, Cats, People, Dead Folks, anybody that moves. Otherwise, the rest will always be your enemy and they will always try to find a way to kill you.

We are no longer staioned in many countries that we have had hostilities with. We no longer have troops stationed in North Africa, for example. Which was one of our first foriegn expeditions. ( The U.S. Landed Marines in Lybia in the early 1800's.) Nor do we retain troops in the Dominican Republic or the Philipines. We stay where and when we are needed. Most countries the only military presence we have are at the Embassies and Consulates around the world.I wish we would withdrawl all of our troops from the EU, and stop funding the economies of nations like France, Germany, Italy. As well as acting at their personal bodyguards. They neither appreciate the fact that we bolster their strength nor do they remeber the sacrifices we made to free them from the insanity that was the Nazi Party, or that we protected their over-abundant rearends from the Spread of Communism and the Stalinist that would have pounded them into deep submission. ( like they did behind the Iron Curtian)
Brutal as it may seem, we are not in Afghanistan or Iraq to build a cohesive government, That is the responsibility of their people,( not that we are not willing to help) We are in both of these countries to keep terrorists occupied in their own region. Instead of having the lattitude to plan and carry out attacks on US soil. They must defend the "faith" and will focus solely on consolidating their power with in the Middle East. It is a Theory that has worked quite effectively for the past 5 years and will not start having deminishing returns for at least another 2 years or so.
After that we should have our troops at home and guarding our own boarders. like the Swiss.

Vietnam? Perhaps MIA's... Libya? Are we still on the shores of Tripoli, as recounted in the Marine hymn? Mexico? You do recall a chap named Pancho Villa, don't you? Does Somalia count?
Check your facts. We only stay in places where we protect our 'interests' and/or where we aren't forced out!
I think I agree with what you're trying to get at by the way. Perhaps if we spend more time examining the true reasons our govt. embarks on foolish adventures, the more accountable they'll be. This will hopefully result in more responsible and prudent deployments. Deployments that are worthwhile and purposeful!

i could have reported this earlier yet permitting a three,000,000 Muslim "community" to stay in our usa grow to be the biggest disaster interior the whole historic past of the united kingdom, I incorporate WW1, WW2, the Iraq conflict and positively all wars and failures going back over 2000 years. We recovered from the wars in the time of historic past,we can't recover from this style and point of immigration

I guess what makes people think that is hope that our military future will be different in the past. It is kind of sad that so many people hold on to that hope. While at some point the numbers will probably lessen we will always be at risk of having our brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, mothers and fathers sent into the Middle East.
