My pug is very overweight and the vet said to cook for him, using ground beef, chicken or turkey and vegetables. I don't know what to do or how much. Any pug lovers can help me?

Make a meatloaf.Use two lbs. of very lean ground round,1 cup Total cereal,1 egg, 1 cup grated carrots and 1 can green beans, drained. You can also add a little garlic powder, parsley, and celery flakes to add flavor.Mix it all together and press it into a baking pan(loaf pan;cake pan, etc.),which has been sprayed with Pam.Bake, covered,at 350 degrees for 90 minutes.remove from oven, let cool.Cut into slices and freeze the slices individually. When it's time to feed him, just take a slice out of the freezer and warm it in the microwave for 3-4 minutes,or just let it thaw in the fridge over night.I would feed him 1 slice twice daily if it's to be his only food.If you are supplementing his dog food, then feed only one slice.I would also add a doggy vitamin, and twice-daily walks.Good luck. You can also use lean ground chicken or turkey alone or in combination with the beef.

Use ground turkey as it's pretty lean. Brown it in a pan, as you do hamburger. When it's browned, add some veggies... peas, carrots and/or greenbeans. Use canned (drain liquid) or frozen veggies. Add to meat mixture. Don't worry about the quantities, after it has cooled somewhat put any extra in small butter containers & freeze for the whole week if there's enough. He may only need a cup and 1/2 of this food each day. I don't know how much he weighs or how overweight he is. Ask the Vet to be sure.

Cook for your dog? He must be a pudgy little pug. You could try simmering low fat ground chicken with green beans and corn in a deep frying pan. That sounds like good diet food for a dog to me.

I used to have to cook for my dog because she had allergies to the processed food.:

1 kg (about 2 lb)chicken casserole pieces
500 gm (1lb) frozen mixed veges
sml packet of pasta
2 cups of rice

Cook the chicken in enough water to well cover the chicken. When chicken is cooked, take meat off bones.
Put the meat back in the pot with the water u cooked the chicken in, add the rest of the ingredients and cook till rice is cooked. You can add more water if you like.
Divide it into one meal portions and put in freezer. That used to do my dog for a week, it may do your pug for two, Perhaps add more veges because he has to lose weight.

Goodluck with him .....
I didnt use pet chicken mince because it is mainly fat/skin/bones.

Only feed him once a day.
No more than 1-1 1/2 cups per day.
This worked for my moms pug.

Cook 2 cups of lentils with carrots, celery, squash, and any dark green veggie...Add 6 ounces of lean meat per day, and and feed two sevings per day...No tomatoes or onions..no salt needed..
If he doesn't like lentils, cook with any fish, which really flavors up the lentils....
